GonneVille Posted October 2, 2009 Report Share Posted October 2, 2009 You know, this kid really is a genius. To get a working wind turbine together from those parts is incredible. The problem he has is that his set-up has no governor. I'd imagine he has to rebuild it after any decent storm. For only a few dollars, you can build a weighted governor to pitch the blades in high winds so it doesn't over-speed and fly apart. For probably right around $100 a pop for materials, you can get plans for a small turbine that uses an automotive alternator with a governor you can whip up in your garage...imagine the good you could do sending a couple hundred of those over there...
