Small Project - Painted the Coil Covers

Recommended Posts

I have been debating something like this for a while, and decided that painting the coil covers red would look good matched with the red stripes on the fender. The coil covers came out a shade darker. They are a little closer in color upfront - the picture makes them look quite a bit different.

What do you think?

Thanks Bud! I think it's just enough. Unfortunately... you can't really make out the driver side because of the intake that goes over half the damn valve cover.

looks good you should paint the raised lines and lettering black.

Any ideas on how to do that? I painted the covers with high temp paint (obviously)... I suppose I could mask the letters off and spray them, but that would be one helluva job...

dremel FTW

I think that's what I'll do.

What about paint? One of the guys at O'Rieley's recommended caliper paint - can you get that in a bottle with a brush?? Or even just using a can of high temp spray paint (like I used), and spraying a bunch out and then quickly brushing it on?

Just get you a can of the same hi temp paint you did the red in. Spray it onto a piece of cardboard until it puddles. Dip small craft brush in and paint. Its such a small area it would be almost impossible to not make it look good. Might take a couple coats, but they will dry in a few minutes each coat.

"Cleared" the letters. Here's the end result:
