CRed05
oh thats just around the corner from where i work. so i assume wedgewood? method 1 i copy everything over to the card, go to reboot it, and it says no images found. so pressing the power buttom doesnt initiate the install process. ive double checked to make sure everything is where it should be. new method, copied everything over, made sure everything from method 1 was deleted. as i stated earlier, when i enter the path into the recovery flasher, the flash buttom darkens but i cant push/click on it. Strange, so either way it cant find the recovery image on the SD card...did you reformat it as fat32?

Yeah, the phone doesnt use it for anything but storage, but when you run hero it uses a partition on there for memory.

jeffro
i understand that. but those instructions make it unclear as to what to type and what not to type.
CRed05
i understand that. but those instructions make it unclear as to what to type and what not to type. When you are on the home screen, when you hit enter it opens up Launcher, thats where you type "telnetd" Try these instructions, they seem to be a little easier to follow http://androidforums.com/t-mobile-g1/12637-root-guide-stock-2-cyanogen-update-rom.html Edited October 28, 2009 by kickass

jeffro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534461 But that is very out of date. Start out with the link I posted earlier (post #9) on how to root your phone. Actually, follow those instructions, but use this recovery instead: http://rapidshare.com/files/287548589/recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.2.img That will partition the SD card for you perfectly with one click, it will also install roms for you, convert EXT2 to EXT3, wipe EXT3, do backups and some other cool things. Install this Hero ROM: http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=mlign/ROM/&file=MLIGN-HeroV2.5.7.zip ah im scared. i got it rooted. now i just have to install hero. is this g1 specif for tmobile?
