Hi Guys,

I'm Jon. But everyone just calls me The BeerMan. My entire racing experience (other than spectating of course) is in the AutoX community. I ran my 86 ragtop Vette for 11 years in local events, as well as national tour & pro-solo.

Retired it 2 seasons ago to build a proper race car. I now share the 71EM Vette with racerdad916. He owns the drivetrain & I own everything else. You know, the part that turns, stops, and keeps the rain off your head.

I'm responsible for the Novice program for the local SCCA region. So if you show up for an event (Which I strongly recommend), you will get to know me.

I look forward to finding out more of what's going on the Columbus area.

Nice intro, and welcome to the site. So is there a story behind being called the beer man?

Yeah, there's a story, but it's too obvious for me to share on here. I'll leave it to one of the other insiders hear to explain.

BeerMan

Dang, you got enough tire on that car? How do your wheel bearings like that!?!

We need that much tire to get the power to the ground. You know the routine: More motor requires more tire, which allows more motor, which requires more tire. Rinse - repeat.

Obviously the wheel bearings hate it. So do the rear suspension bushings. We have tons of action shots with the rear wheels pointed all kinds of funky directions.

This winter we're doing all new wheel bearings, and replacing all of the control arms & connecting rods with heim joints. Hopefully that will help keep things under control.

welcome, Never did go to a SCCA event becuase its not worth the price there IMO, i generally run autocross with the buckeye miata club.

I have friends that run with the Miata club & have watched some of their events. They look like fun, but our car is a tad big to run on the BMC courses.

You should give us a try sometime. SCCA is definitely a different animal.
