Wease
This is actually for my brother who lives in Denver: My '98 Regal is acting just a little strange. When I turn the key the first time the car doesn't start, however on the second turn the car did start. So with that I was thinking the following things: 1. I hadn't ever replaced the fuel filter so it might be clogged. 2. Could it be the starter and the solenoid that's not making the right connection until it turns over in the right way? 3. Fuel Pump? Well I did #1 first since that was fairly easy, however the car is doing the same. Any thoughts on what I should replace next?
Guest Removed
is it cranking and not starting the first time you hit the key..or? not starting could go a few different way...basically is it cranking or not that first time? Wease
OK, he said that the first time he starts it, it just cranks and cranks and won't start. So he'll stop, wait a second, and then crank it and it fires right up.
Guest Removed
test fuel pressure... that or tell him to cycle the key on and off a few times before cranking it, see if that makes it fire up the first try...sounds like the fuel pump is weak IMO. but rather hard to tell

Bam
Sounds like what my 01 GTP did a few years back, replaced the pump and all was dandy. i bought a used pump from ed morad, never gave me any troubles and saved me some dough.
