Rally Pat
MR2 is going bye bye, and I am picking up an EJ22T shortblock on Saturday from someone on RS25.com . Don't plan on doing anything super special with it, just something to have fun with rallycrossing and playing in the snow. The motor that is in it has a bunch of issues, and I am pretty sure the block is cracked. Probably won't see an autocross, as the transmission is too fragile for it. If it did, I would be babying it for sure. Anyway, short parts list: EJ22T bottom end EJ22E Heads/Cam/Intake Not sure what to do about an Intercooler, I hear there are clearance issues with a WRX one, maybe a stock EJ22 one. WRX Injectors WRX exhaust bits TD04 Turbo, maybe a VF39, but I kind of want to avoid lag as much as possible. Megasquirt II Walboro 255 lph and I'm changing out the tranny for a new one. Mojoe
Im a little confused by how this was written. You are taking an NA EJ22 and making it a T? Or it already is a T? If it's an actual 1996 EJ22T, I'm very interested in seeing one. I have gone back and forth several times about making mine NA/T. I've read and seen pics, but I'm interested to see a build done. Rally Pat
This a factory 1992 Legacy Turbo EJ22T motor, with NA EJ22E heads. Anyway, I picked up the shortblock yesterday. He included some "bonus parts" I guess you would call them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/block1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/block2.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/block3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/block4.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/block5.jpg He gave me the EJ22T intake manifold, with everything attached. Including, so I am told, upgraded injectors. Although, I need help from the Subaru community identifying these. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/intakemanifold.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/injectors1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/injectors2.jpg Plans for this week are to get it on the engine stand and source a set of heads. Rally Pat
Nasty Sock is rarely that big a help to anyone, but I will glance there anyway. I get most of my info from rs25.com, legacycentral.org, and msefi.com/diyautotune.com.

Rally Pat
Getting ready to post my thread over at COS, I spend a lot of time there, too.
Rally Pat
Got the engine on the stand today, and inspected the cylinder walls a bit. Look super clean, and still had the cross hatching on the walls. Pistons looked great also, except for a small mark where it looks like a valve met one, but I don't think thats a problem. Still trying to track down complete EJ22E heads, so if you know anyone with them, or know someone that can get them, then PLEASE let me know. I am having a much harder time tracking them down in Columbus than I thought I would. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/stand2.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/stand1.jpg

Rally Pat
...who?
Rally Pat
I can't really confirm it, but the general consensus seems to be that the injectors are STi Pinks, which are rated at 525cc's, which would be pretty awesome if thats what they are. I think one of them might be cracked on top, but I will look at it when i get them out of the intake. I have a couple leads on heads that will hopefully get this moving again. Rally Pat
Bill (thorne) is going to hook me up with a set of EJ22E heads, which I am picking up tomorrow from him. (Major thanks man!) Time to start hunting for other parts. I need a WRX crossmember, in order to make a WRX up-pipe fit (unless someone can find me one that will fit a stock one). There is a guy on COS that I may be buying a factory STi turboback exhaust from to use for my exhaust system, although I am hesitant because I am not 100% on how well it will fit. Going back to electronics, I was thinking of maybe setting up the Megasquirt to piggyback the factory NA ecu, which it can do. If I get motivated again, I will do a full conversion, but will probably still use the stock wiring harness, and make myself an adapter, then add any sensors I have to to the harness. Going back to turbo parts, I am still pretty much thinking of going with a TD04, although people are still trying to get me to go with something else. Unless I get some killer deal on a VF39 or something, its going to be a TD04. Transmission. I think I know the root of a lot of the issues I am having with the one I have, and I think I can sort it out without replacing it. I will at least give that a try. If shit goes south, then I will figure something else out. Lastly, I am thinking about documenting the whole thing on my YouTube channel, so that could be something to look for soon. boosted98gst
If your going with a td04 how come you need any type of computer ecu tuning software? A stock wrx pump will be more then enough, stock everything would be enough.
Rally Pat
Because you can't tune this ECU.... And I am using a Walboro because I have one laying around, unopened.
boosted98gst
Oh im just saying the td04 does not even flow that much air or need that much fuel to tune. a piggyback system would do the job, thing runs out of steam after 5,500 rpm running a 255from tank then will require a nice FPR before rail or on rail also. Rally Pat
I am more concerned with the injectors I procured, STi pinks are 565cc's.
boosted98gst
Yeah Welp either way should be a fun car ! I am looking to get myself into another AWD car here soon too. Good luck with everything.
Alex L.
Why are you looking to piggyback the Megasquirt versus using one as a standalone?
