unfunnyryan
Lower specs..buy high quality 24 or 28 inch monitor.. ENHANCE your computer experience. e: if you really want it to last, hard drives are going to be the problem. Save some money to buy a SSD in the future. Seriously. A good SSD with TRIM support, and your system will stay fast for a while.
JaSSon
Just throwing money at HP isn't the best solution. 12GB ram? Holy fuck. Between Alex and I we don't even have 12 GB ram in the entire house! With that kind of budget get: A core i7 proc 4-6GB ram (depending on cpu config) nVidia GT-xxx or GTX-xxx for CUDA, which can offload work from the CPU in more areas than just graphics A 128GB or larger SSD to use as a BOOT drive 2TB HDD to use as a STORAGE drive And a nice monitor.
