pontiacfreak142
so basically i go to a chevy dealership yesterday to look at this 2000 bonneville they have. The car is clean as can be, inside and out, and only has 74k miles on the clock. The salesman comes out and tells me it was a special order car by this elderly couple, and they have been the only owners, which honestly very believable by the condition of this car. now the problem, last night my dad asks if it had the keyless entry option, i said no, or at least i didnt get any remotes anyway. So i call him earlier with the vin to check, and come to find out the car was actually a rental car (one owner my ass). So would they do anything about it? they seem like they really wanted business and were real concerned about me coming back there for all my maintanance and all. So if i call and say they will lose my business, will they do anything?
Sully
I am pretty sure that by law, you have 3 days to return the car. You could take any info you have on the car to them and shove it in their face and demand your money back. However, it's possible that his statement was not completely untrue. Maybe it's an elderly couple that owns a rental car business, so technically, it was a one owner car; just used by many people. I would call and talk to the sales manager. Let him know what was told to you and what you found out. See what happens.

96blkform
I would approach the salesman/their manager about it. If you like the car and want to keep it I would see if they are prepared to extend the warantee they gave you for the same deal or lower the price. Drewhop
There is no law regarding returning a car. No 3 day return policy. Unless the dealership put it in writing for you. And even then it might not hold up in court. There are ways of getting what you want but I would not start out threatening anyone. Most GM keyless entry fobs can be programmed for a few different vehicles. Your best bet is to see if they have a extra one they would be willing to program for your car. A salesman is going to tell you what you want to hear to buy a car. If it was owned by only one rental company and they are the second owner they are kind of telling you the truth that it is a one owner car. I am with Jones, but my beachfront property is better then his it only has 1/2 a owner.

Mensan
The owner of a used car must disclose by law a history of a salvage/rebuilt title and that's about it. It sucks, but they can tell you anything they want. I was told my car was a one owner local car, and when we got the new navigation DVD all the addresses were from NY/NJ (Manhattan area). Nothing can be done. Hell, Orion bought his GTO and the dealership COMPLETELY fucked him; they sold him what they said was a GM certified vehicle. They never completed the GM certified paperwork and he found out the car had been wrecked significantly, which made the car unable to be certified, and the warranty was void due to the previous damage. The smug dealer (Aaron Masterson from Dennis Auto) was a prick and basically said he could lie all he wanted. By the time we were leaving he lost the smug look on his face and threatened me with a lawsuit. I have a way with people.

ICEMAN1647545504
I car salesman lied to you??? Nooooooooooo... Can't be... BTW buying a rental car is like marrying a porn star... Everybody fucked the shit out of it at some point... On I side note though, I always get the extended warranty with all my rentals. Because I know, that car is about to see more air time than a skateboard at the X-Games...

2 Sweet
SSEi? GXP? I like the Bonnevilles a lot but the front bumper on the non-GXP models just looks so goofy to me. Nice cars though.
pontiacfreak142
its just a base 3.8 car unfortunately lol. As for the car fax thing, im retarded and i know it. I just didnt think anything about it. I dont buy cars very often, and hell this is the first car ive bought that wasnt at the dealership my dad works at (my dad pulls up every bit of info on cars when family buys one there). And i know salesmen are known for lying, ive had several lie to me before, although they were in different situations. This guy had no reason to lie to me. And i have a feeling when i go in and tell them they need to make it right or im goin to the Atourny general and the BBB, i think they might see things my way. Mensan
ha what did you say? Something like this: ...i have a feeling when i go in and tell them they need to make it right or im goin to the Atourny general and the BBB, i think they might see things my way. He told DJ that if he felt that he was wronged he should contact the BBB, and then asked what I thought. I said the BBB is worthless (which he knows, and that's why he suggested it), and I would recommend he go to the AG4Ohio website and report the dealership to the consumer protection division; because there is a difference in a situation where information was not disclosed, and an out-and-out lie. I told him the car was misrepresented and therefore constituted fraud/breach of contract. I felt the AG office should be involved as a mediator. He was pissed.
