AJ Posted January 31, 2010 Report Share Posted January 31, 2010 they can say all they want about being reliable but your gun jams and i have seen in person (i've seen this happen twice) someone shooting a hi-point and the frame braking in half. i'm sorry but that is more then enough reason for me to recomend people to stay away from those junk guns and me to never own one. i have had my glock for about 10 years and it has never jamed one time. ashley used to get mad at me when i told her how junk hi-point guns are because she grew up with the owners daughter. I've ran thousands of rounds through mine without a hiccup using anything from junk ass wolf stuff to higher end federal and remington stuff. When I was in the police academy 2 people bought them against the instructors advice. Not a single person in my class of 22 ever had a problem at the range except for the 2 people who were using Hi Points. I have seen it with my own eyes and heard countless horror stories. I was reading the problem with a cheap gun is it may only fire 20-30k rounds in a lifetime as a more expensive gun fires 60-70k in it's lifetime. Now I have had my gun for 3 years maybe 1 more or less(I forget) anyway I have fired about 500+ rounds through it. So that gives me a long time before I the low end(20k). Dont know about the 2 failures,but when I first got mine it jammed(my son took it out) after the first clip went through it. I called hipoint and spoke to someone who later it turns out was the owner of the company. He said he had some yahoos putting the guns together and they had put a spring in backward. He 1st asked if I felt comfortable enough taking a few pieces off the gun, which I did, and sure enough the spring was ibackwards. I removed and placed it right and it has shot well ever since. You are talking tolerances of the whole gun vs having a barrel shot out. I know guys with Glocks with 150k rounds through them with just different barrels Now I have had my gun for 3 years maybe 1 more or less(I forget) anyway I have fired about 500+ rounds through it. 1veryfastvr4 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Share Posted January 31, 2010 guns are like cars ppl, everyone has their own preference, dont let someone talk you out of owning it if you want too......there are horror stories for everything made in the world today, doesnt mean everything is junk...... oh and its funny how many threads you get on and there are 50 ppl bashing hipoints 50% of them have never shot one or held one but a friend of a friend has and they are junk, the next 30% are new ppl to guns and bought what ever some one told them to on a forum so new to guns they automatically now think hipoints are junk, those ppl know who they are, and perhaps the last 20% left are real gun owners that have owned every type of gun and just plain dont like them, they never bash them but just state they dont like them..... i own a carbine in 9mm have shoot countless rds thro it, everything from factory ammo to relaods jhp to lead, never had any real problems, had maybe 4 jams all from reloads which was my fault not the guns, tightened down the oal and never had a prob again if you want to own a certain type of gun,car,watch, porn, etc then own it dont let someone on the internet cloud your choice...... People do not chastise hi-point because of the polymer frame. Also 1500 rds how many people will shoot this much unless its an only gun, you want a reliable shooter use a revolver Every gun I own that is used for competition or protection has at least 2000 rounds and 1500 consecutive good rounds through it. I've always said, if you want a hi-point for plinking be my guest, but seeing as how I have never shot one more than 50 rounds without a ftf I would never trust one for any protection or competition duties.
