sprayin77
I was just wondering if I put a 3800 stall in my camaro and had my trans rebuilt with shift kit do I need to have my car retuned? Ever since I did this to my car it runs like crap. I have done a tune up with tr6 plugs gapped at .32 for spray and it ran horrible. So then I just did another tune up with tr6 plugs gapped at .42 it runs a little better but still isn't running to good and idles sporadically. So question is should I have it retuned? Linn1647545492
Is it not running well all the time or just at idle?
Nate1647545505
Can you expand on 'runs like crap'?
DTM Brian
You need to bring it out so we can for a drive and data log it. Be ready for a new set of 02 sensors.
sprayin77
It runs like I have a enormous cam in the car at idle and while driving. It clears up then comes back. It's like it has a bad miss in it but isn't throwing any codes. I'm just wondering if the tune is still good or if it's something more like coils going bad, fuel pump going out, o2 sensors, I'm just trying to get this taken care of before track day. Brandon
02's or maf..... Yup more then likely. Just take Brian up on his offer on diagnosing the car
sprayin77
I'm not trying to get it diagnosed for free. I am really just wondering if u have to tune after major trans work is done. But sounds like my 02 censors r going to be replaced.
Cordell
The only thing that usually happens when you do work to the trans/converter is that your shift pressure tables need to be returned to stock after a shift kit and only varied in very small amounts, the shift points at WOT may need to be adjusted due to the stall slowing the shift down, and just a few small tweeks to shift points if neccesary. This really should have no effect on how the engine runs, if that fact wasn't obvious.
LS_Sonoma
cordell speaks truth.
sprayin77
Yeah the shift points are a little messed up. So I believe cordell
sprayin77
Figured it out. I had a huge vacuum leak on my manifold. The shift points r still off though.

DTM Brian
All I have is a RX7 in the morning. The rest of the day is free. I figure we can go scan the car - play with the shift points - then head to hooters for some tits and wings.
Billiumss
Don't waste your money on a shift kit, you can get the same results with a tune. If done right, shift kit would be better.
sprayin77
I already had the trans rebuilt with all Kevlar stuff, transgo shift kit,tci stall with anti ballon plate 3800 stall.
gillbot
If done right, shift kit would be better. Many shift kits replace physical parts which is better than what a simple tune can do.
