944s2
Long story but, Yesterday on a ride with my dad and friend for fathers day I crashed my bicycle on a hill going 35 mph, (last speedo check) The front tire exploded and I held it up on the rim (which was like being on ice) for about 5 seconds, knowing that I was going down. Slid along the pavement for a bit creating some nice road rash on my body. The tire exploding sounded like a gunshot, my dad and friend who were behind me didn't know what happened and a lady 40 yards away and inside, heard it and came out of her house. (she also let me in to clean up and gave me and my bike a ride home) Guess thats what 110-120 psi sounds like when it decides to go. Edit:Also these pics were taken 1 day after the event, all the pics with blood are on my dads camera. 944s2
Oh and I was on the aero bars, so I could not get to the brake to stop the bike, if I would have lifted my body off the bars all balance would have been lost and I would have just instantly gone down. TTQ B4U
ouch! sounds like it could have been a lot worse though. 35mph on a bike is a few performance levels above my fat butt. I only have a typical mountain style bike that I tool around the neighborhood with. I think I've hit 20mph maybe a few higher. Not that the bike could but if I got her to 35mph I'd probably fall over on my own due to lack of oxygen getting there. this thread needs a vid of the event for posterity

I have hit 48 before.

SpaceGhost
You should feel what it felt like at 80mph on pavement.
944s2
You should feel what it felt like at 80mph on pavement. Ouch, this was on pavement, but I assume you were on a motorcycle? If I ever get one I will def suit up for that.

Yep motorcycle, I had jeans on, all that did was allow the pavement to grind the jeans into my skin. Was not fun having 3 nurses scrub the denim out of the rash for an hour. mmrmnhrm
Is Neosporin your best friend right now? Forget Neosporin, grab the Black Label. I don't have a clue what that shit was, apart from some spray can that put yellow stuff on you that stung like hell, but it's what my football coaches used in HS, and no matter how scraped and cut up we got, nobody ever got an infection. 3.1cutlass
That sucks. My one riding buddy went down last week at about 45 when the rear tire went. I hope to never put my road bike down.
