Big Chief2011647545501
If I change the transmission fluid on a BMW 328 it says it will void the warranty I'm wanting to change it just trying to figure out how they will know if I change it. Any idea?
Got-Boost?
Why do you want to change it? If it's under warranty, it's 100% covered....take it to the dealer for FREE!!!
unfunnyryan
Why do you want to change it? If it's under warranty, it's 100% covered....take it to the dealer for FREE!!! dealer wont change it for you because they say its a lifetime item when it is absolutely something that should be changed. edit: but I'm sure they will change it once its out of warranty. For a hefty price.

boostedgtp
"They" will know because the fluid will be clean.
Mr. Jones
Assuming it has a ZF tranny, like most.. If you plan to keep the car past 100K, change it. If you plan to trade in, ect. don't bother. The manufacturer of the transmission recommends normal fluid change intervals, the car manufacturer wants to say "lifetime fluid". Big Chief2011647545501
its got about 45K on it right now, like ryan said IMO it should be changed even though they say its "lifetime". Now I'm debating also to change the filter as well but obviously that involves removing the pan and could possible be easier for "them" to tell I changed it. Anyone's expert opinion? ansonivan
Assuming you use BMW fluid, fill it to the correct level and don't change the filter the dealer should not be able the tell you've done a thing. That said, I wouldn't change the fluid until at least 60K and definitely wouldn't change the filter yet.
