SpaceGhost
No bundling, I love DirecTV, not leaving them, I just want a 6MB connection or faster. Who should we purchase? Not looking for the fastest, just able to download files regularly measured in MB/S not KB/S. Everytime I do a speedtest with AT&T it tells me I have a 5MB connection, but any time I download any file from iTunes or Microsoft, or anyone, I can only download at 650KB/sec. Takes forever to download movies from iTunes. With WOW I would get a 2MB/sec download of the same files before we got AT&T. We switched because we wanted DirectTV and AT&T bundles with DirecTV. I'm done with AT&T.
TTQ B4U
Everytime I do a speedtest with AT&T it tells me I have a 5MB connection, but any time I download any file from RedTube or YouPorn, I can only download at 650KB/sec. Takes forever to download movies from xnxx.com With WOW I would get a 2MB/sec download of the same files before we got AT&T. We switched because we wanted DirectTV and AT&T bundles with DirecTV. I'm done with AT&T. WOW! Literally too.

99FLHRCI
Putty, what's bad about TimeWarner's RoadRunner? I Don't care about TV, just Internet. I have TWC for internet only. I am not impressed with the speed of my service at all. The added bonus is every year I get an additional $10/month added to my bill as a loyalty bonus. What started out as $19.99 is now $49.99. HUGE difference! and 5Mb/sec comes out to 650 KB/sec. your getting your full connection potential. if you want to download in MB/sec your going to need an 8Mb/sec line or faster for just 1 MB/sec download capability. Radio Flyer1647545514
Look at U-Verse instead of DSL. We have TW for net at the house and we pay for 15mbps. I get 7mbps on my computer and my buddy gets only 10mpbs on his comp.

bicranium
Yeah, if you're expecting 5 megabytes per second you're going to need a 40 megabit per second connection brotato.

No I did not know this, I had the 8MB package with Wow and saw 2MB down on files, Funny nobody with AT&T could tell me that, they told me I should be seeing downloads faster than 650k. I've had 2 techs here in the past couple of months and they have given up. I was on the phone with AT&T for 2 hrs after the tech left. Nobody explained that. Their solution is uverse for Internet, this eliminates my contract with AT&T. If I don't try uverse, they are going to charge me the $150 ETF. They are not making me pay for the modem and install, just the extra $15 a month for their 12MB service. So we will pay $45 for Internet. If it is slow too, I can cancel with no ETF. WOW already offered today to give me 8MB service for $45 a month so if it doesn't work out I'll most likely go back to them just for Internet. SpaceGhost
And I'm not expecting a 5MB per second download, but between 1-2MB per sec is fine. It's what I had with WOW before AT&T.
Skinner
Putty, what's bad about TimeWarner's RoadRunner? I Don't care about TV, just Internet. He have had very little problems with TW we did go on a 3 month span where our phone and internet would drop randomly, but TW was aware of the issues (bad hardware was randomly back feeding into the system) and credited us for those 3 months. Other then that I have never had any real issues that did not correct itself by the next day.

V8 Beast
I run 2 xboxes on xbox live while my daughter streams movies and my wife clears out her email. Not sure why everyone is hating on roadrunner, it works great for me. The cable service on the other hand is another issue... still havnt pinpointed the pixelated screen issue yet. Nitrousbird
I am sadly stuck with Time Warner; it has been reliable - their 8Mbps package (or is it 7 or 9, I can't recall now), pulls usually 9Mbps down. Upload sucks ass...usually 350-450k, far slower than WOW's lowest @ 1Mbps. I miss having 2Mbps uploads. Ping times with my TW isn't as good as my WOW was either. Tractor
Yeah your 650kbps is actually awesome. Especially considering that most ISP's would consider a 20% variance as good enough. With tweaking you can usually get close to 100% so your doing good.
Buck531
I got an email the other day that WOW is offering me 15 MB /2 up for an extra $5 a month. Right now I believe I have the 15 down / 1 up. Debating if I need to do it with 2 360's in the house. Neither of us (son or I ) download movies or what not.
