I wanted to take some time off after graduating from school and I ended up driving across the country for 5.5 months. My route:

I stopped at national parks, friends places, and farms on the way.

Badlands was the first national park I went to. Pretty small park with a ton of buffalo. Camped there 2 nights and wandered around the fields for a day.

Stayed with a friend in Boulder, Colorado. Went on a hike between two 14ers, about 10 miles, Mt Evans and Mt Bierstadt. Pretty tough hike since it was my first one at elevation in a long time.

I love out west. Only been to a few places in CA like Yosemite and the Serra Nevadas. Most gorgeous place I have ever been to.

The highlight was climbing up Mt St Helens with my friend. Amazing experience. 2nd was being in San Francisco with another friend. I have like 20 things tied for 3rd place.

Just kidding. Terrific thing to do and very kewl of you to share this.

 

The trick will be to continue to have these types of adventures throughout your life instead of doing what most of us do: put them off to some "bucket list" which we never end up having the time or the money or the good health to complete. Don't be like most of us who spend our lives preparing to live. I'd say you're off to a good start. You've got moxie, my friend.

GREAT pics! I am truly jealous. When I was younger, my family made several vacations to Idaho. We used to stay in a cabin in the mountains right by the Palisades reservoir. I remember this awesome little ice cream shack in Swan Valley, and Jackson Hole Wyoming had THE BEST pizza I've ever had, at this place called Mountain High Pizza Pie.

 

Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons were awesome, and the view from our cabin in Idaho was incredible. I haven't been there in years, and unfortunately I wasn't old enough at the time to fully appreciate just how amazing the scenery was. I can't wait to go back someday.
