TurboNova
where did you get the sticker. I pieced it all together, it was kind of difficult to make it all work, but was determined to have a cornfed decal... :fuckyeah:
TurboNova
Engine block goes to machine shop tomorrow to get the bottom end all machined and assembled (rods, pistons and crank) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0282.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0276.jpg Cant stop admiring the Allpro heads that are going on this engine. The work they do there at allpro is second to none. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0277.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0278.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0279.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0281.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0286.jpg Edited December 13, 2011 by TurboNova

TurboNova
I am building it. Its only going to M&M to get the block bored, torque plate honed and getting the block short filled. TurboNova
Been getting some detail stuff taken care of before final assembly. I sent all of my cold side parts, down pipe and turbine housing to Nitro Plate in Tennessee. After all my searching these guys have unmatched quality finish and thermal protection. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0305.jpg I also found a guy who does powder coating and it is the best I have seen and his prices are phenomenal. Everything I have coated will now goto this guy, he is not local to me which sucks, but to be honest shipping this stuff is worth it. Some of the stuff I sent him was new and some things were either nasty or powder coated prior. He did real nice prep on it. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0300.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0301.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0302.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0303.jpg Here is the engine with assembled bottom end, should be completely together next week and hopefully by first of feb it will be all in the car and I can get the fuel system plumbed and wiring finished and hit the rollers. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0307.jpg

TurboNova
Been a few weeks since an update, just started getting back to it, and kind of on a roll so really hope to see a tune in the car by the first of april, we will see. All the coated stuff came back, cold side and down pipe along with turbine housing went to nitro plate. The other stuff was powder coated by Killer Koatings. I got the forged 370 all assembled and put into the car. got the fuel rails plumbed up front and coolant, breather and throttle body stuff mostly assembled and installed. Over the next couple weeks I will have the feed and return plumbed for the fuel system and hopefully the trans lines. I have some new wilwood brakes to install and then get the trans back in the car. My last thing to do will be wiring and after that the car should be all ready for the tune. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0312.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0311.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0314.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/IMG_0313.jpg

On3Performance
Ive been sitting here showing my dad photos of your setup trying to get him to ditch this carb'ed 427 engine he is putting in his 69 Camaro. No matter what I do, I cannot talk him out of it and to do a similar engine you started out with and let me build a turbo system for him. If he was to do one of the truck 5.3 or 6.0l engine, wiring, and trans, what do you think he would have roughly into it? Fuel system stuff we would do but Im just somewhat curious and dedicated to getting him to do this
TurboNova
if you google meanyellowz he has a super budget way of putting together a 5.3 swap and then of course you got the turbo stuff. Its unreal to me why anyone wants to mess with gen1 stuff anymore unless you are restoring something or know carbs real well. For me at least when you add up a mild built sbc or bbc (starting from scratch) you cant compete with the price of doing a fuel injected gen 3+ motor. I bought my 5.3 from deer creek with no core for 350 and when i changed to 6.0 I bought a complete motor from them for 425.00.... but thats shopping for a deal for a while
GSXRAntwon
I love this build! If I may ask, why didn't you have the hot side parts coated?
TurboNova
I love the look of stainless, and I spent an assload on material. but I had the downpipe (mild) and cold stuff (mild) coated by nitro plate. And Once I get some more money and if the stainless turns to not looking so good I will send it all to nitro plate. You cant beat that stuff for the price and quality. I am pretty much down to some petty stuff on the car and then the wiring which I hate doing and then it will be time for a tune. The wiring hopefully will come out pretty slick. I am going to build a control panel and got some pretty cool stuff for it. I am mounting my 3 step, ams boost controller, some gauges, terminal strips and relay boards and a switch panel to it here are the boards I am using. the two relay board is for the fuel pumps and will be mounted in the back by the battery and then the large 8 relay board will be on my control panel http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/leash1.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/1972nova/leash2.jpg

It wouldn't have to be a super budget build but Im just trying to at any cost get him to do just a simple build, even if we didnt go turbo like this right away(but its a must down the road). He has this 427 engine from another car thats just sitting here so I think thats why he is leaning towards that. Hopefully all these photos I keep showing him will make him crack and go for it.
