Back in the '80, F1 engines was producing 1000+ hp out of a 1000cc engine. Those engine were actually race and win races. As a matter of fact, those turbo F1 engines were so successful F1 organizers later banned them.

 

Now 30 years later this happened. Impressive, but not enough to blow my mind. ;)

Turbo F1 cars were 1.5L V6's and with basically unlimited funds. I don't think you can really compare the two.

 

Rumors have it that the 2013 season will see 1.5L Turbo engines return to F1.

 

Edit: Shit I guess its official...2013 will be turbo 4bangers limited to 1.6L, awesome.
