The change is just one of a number to the 2008 regulations agreed by the teams and FIA at a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council earlier this week.Article 9.3 of the newly-revised technical regulations states: “No car may be equipped with a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power or of compensating for excessive throttle demand by the driver. Any device or system which notifies the driver of the onset of wheel spin is not permitted.â€Outlawed in the 1990s, traction control was legalized for the 2001 season when it was felt that sophisticated electronics had made policing the ban impractical. From next season, however, standardized ECUs should make enforcement far easier.Under other changes agreed, the regulations regarding engine homologation will be relaxed slightly, with teams able to make in-season adjustments to a longer list of components, including fuel injection and exhaust systems.http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2007/3/5857.htmlHopefully WSBK and AMA SBK will do the same. mrbret Posted June 28, 2007 Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 i think that this is a plus, but, there will be alot more accidents now. anyone can go 200mph safely with traction control. now they will be tested.Very true indeed.I know the FIA keep trying to do stuff to slow the cars down (different grooved tires etc) but as the cars keep getting faster with better use of engine power & aerodynamics, it's almost a lost cause.Perhaps they should limit the Bhp the cars put out, some would still be faster on the straights & some round corners but that may help a little. vectorvictor Posted July 1, 2007 Report Share Posted July 1, 2007 Racing is all about using what you got to its fullest without breaking it and this will make the racing better but it will still be allot of follow the leader because of aero problems when you are behind or next to someone .
