Digital Audio

I have a Digital Audio out on my TV and one on my XBox 360. My receiver only has 1 input. Is there a device that will allow me to plug both into the receiver? Will a splitter do the job or does it only split signals? I only plan on having input from one at a time I just don't want to have to switch the cables themselves everytime.

A splitter will work

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the XBox only has optical... I assume you are thinking coax (RCA type).

TJ, coax (RCA) or optical type?

Or just buy a new receiver. You can get one that does HDMI with audio for cheap now a days.

These are all from big name companies that you should be able to find some of at Best Buy, or at least online (for probably cheaper).

It is optical. I bought the 360 used and it came with a component/rca cable in one. There is a small black plug for digital. I am assuming it is only digital audio. I am looking into receivers now.

This just popped into my head again for some reason and I found these.

Manual switch (optical audio) http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042302&p_id=2946&seq=1&format=2

Optical to Coax digital audio converter. It sounds like you have 2 Optical audio sources. If you have 1 optical and 1 Coax digital audio input on your receiver, you can use this to convert 1 of the Optical to Coax and input it that way. Then you can still switch with the remote for the receiver and not have to manually switch it via the above method.
