Buckeye1647545503
just like your mach but shorter wheel base. Don't do it!
mjrsplat
+1 these things SUCK in snow. if you want a fun pontiac to drive in the snow, go for a gtp. something like this one. http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2162476649.html good in snow and fun to drive
TurboRust
if thats the comparison i got around ok in the mach, i'm not going to 100% base my opinion on snow traction, since we see heavy snow like 2 times a year here. 2 Sweet
Actually, I've heard from several GTO owners that with a good set of tires, they aren't bad in the winter at all. GTP's are ok, but at the end of they day, it's still a FWD V6 automatic. Great daily don't get me wrong, but GTO > GTP any day of the week

Great daily don't get me wrong, but GTO > GTP any day of the week very true, but as a daily driver id take a GTP. id be too tempted to mod the shit outta the gto, then id have 2 cars and no daily. Benner
very true, but as a daily driver id take a GTP. id be too tempted to mod the shit outta the gto, then id have 2 cars and no daily. That's still a problem with the GTP's. Ton's of guys out there running solid 12's even into the 11's with daily driven Gtp's

kirks5oh
i love my gto but not sure i'd drive it in the winter. the stock tires suck ass, but you probably won't be able to find one still with the stock tires. i might be selling mine sometime this spring/summer. its a catback/intake/shifter/dyno tuned manual LS2 car with 26k miles still a great car. i averaged 27mpg on the way home from chicago
pontiacfreak142
to awnser your questions, i cant imagine they are to bad in the snow, or at least it cant be worse than firebird was and it didnt do to bad with with a good set of tires. I believe the transmission is a 4L80E. those are just a stronger version of the fbodies 4L60 unit, which can take alot of abuse.
evan9381
i still dont know why people say that cars are bad in the snow. with correct tires, just about any car will be fine. and as we all know, i doubt derek will have ANY issues with getting perfect tires. Big Steve
I had zero issues with driving my old GTO in the snow. Driving a mustang in the snow and a GTO is like night and day. Had both, drove both. Would rather drive the gto rather than my ladies GP.
Mojoe
And whats wrong with a 05-09 Subaru Legacy GT? Way more function and I'm pretty sure the back seat in more comforable. LOL you being a family man an all.
TurboRust
i was really tryiing to stick within 13k out the door, and I dont see any legacy gt's in that range(craigslist, autotrader, ebay)
Mojoe
look on the forums. The price and care are much better. I think you can fin 13-14K
Snowflake
come on chad, i saw what you did to matt's firebird he had I think Gary might be right. You should go with an LS2 GTO. Chances are the car will be gone by the end of summer either way.

Orion
My GTO was awesome. Not too fun in the snow, but a good set of winter tires will go a long ways towards rectifying that problem. Super duper comfortable. Wish I still had it. Also, the back seat really isn't that bad. Trunk space sucks, though. It's worth it to get the ls2 and manual tranny. Give me a shout if you want to hear more about it.
