So, lets say someone wants to go out around the Columbus area to shoot some pictures of their ride. Where are your "spots" if you would like to share them with the group?

I mean sure there could be the "obvious" like Hoover Dam or the Easton Parking Garage, but where else do you all go take your pictures?

One spot I am going to go check out today is the old Ohio train museum over near Maxton Chevrolet off 161. A place I have known about for years, and been to numerous times, but never tried to shoot pictures of my cars there.

Granted I am a "point and shoot" camera guy, but I certainly like neat back drops for my shots.

I like the tunnel right next to the spaghetti warehouse (factory?) across from COSI.

Downtown parking garages can give a good urban backdrop. I personally feel like urban suits sedans and european cars best, but I still shot mine near the leveque tower.

For sports cars, though, I think a great countryside works best, especially american cars. Seems to just convey the open air, warm summer feeling that goes along with the cars(although right now this isn't really an option )

There was a thread about this a few years ago and there was a lot of great suggestions, but none of which I can remember lol. There's a cool spot out in this little "town" called Lilly Chapel (near London and West Jefferson) which has a couple old grain silos that I've taken pics at before...

The CSCC parking garage is ok...

Or pretty much any park with a lot of trees, which makes for cool reflections...

Also, pics at the 'shoe are pretty neat...

Yeah forgot about the Shoe. I just got a D3100 and will be looking to take better pics than I have in the past with my point and shoot.

There are grain silos here in London that have train tracks right by them that trains run on quite a bit and an old train station right by them too. Don't have any pics with a train going by or the station but here are the silos.

Unfortunately this has to be a shameless plug for my employer but my coworker and I just spent 4.5 hours last friday doing this with a point and shoot at night:

The 2012 FIAT 500 meets Columbus, OH

Protip: Easton is DESERTED by 1130 when its cold out and security didn't mind us blocking part of the street for close to 1/2 hour while we took photos.

Locations include:

Easton (various, but by Nordstrom is very well lit)

92nd Airborn parking lot (by CMH)

CMH Arrivals lane (also didnt mind us taking photos for a short time)

various alleys on campus

in front of RPAC/near Ohio Stadium

Iuka(off 4th) and Walhalla (off Indianola) streets

The CAP (Hyde Park, Greek Orthodox Church)

The arch near Nationwide Arena

Northwestern Mutual (near where casino was supposed to be) - there is also a lot with about a dozen SEL and S class benzes, as well as an old Imperial, a Continental, and an old Caddy

Confluence Park

Huntington Park

along Marconi blvd behind what I think is the Police HQ, near the Santa Maria

COSI/Genoa Park (obviously)

We'll be going to do some daytime photos this upcoming Sunday (3/6) in the FIAT, will post those when we do so.

EDIT: Images added

personally, i think what makes a great car photo is having a very clean and well taken care of car. and putting it by something that is dirty or just beat up. for example some place on campus find a wall covered in "street art" have the right angle and snap away i know there is a few boarded up building by COSI that make for good shot. also capturing the small details of your car can make a photo, find the focal points that make the car "pop"

Excellent shot. Had to level it off, and remove the wires for you though :) Love the Bokeh of the 1.4 Did well for you even on a crop camera. Bumped the crop a bit too.
