Skinner
it may not be luan but it was used like luan as a leveling board. Pull the trim and just take your time pulling it up. I would also screw the floor down to the joist as well to help prevent flex in the floor or if there are any squeaks.
mrs.cos
Update from this evening. I probably could hvae got more done but i am exhausted. All the nails hammered down, floor swept, flooring out at the trash. Tomorrow, hope to get the rest of the vinyl up and maybe most of the press board (yep there was a tag on one of the pieces) http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor6.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor7.jpg

mrs.cos
I swear i didnt forget. I will pull it.. i just dont want to deal with it righ tnow. It will be the last thing i do before the backerboard. if its still on the wall, i dont have to worry about storing it somewhere. that area is the only area in the kitchen that has molding I do have a question.. THEre is a decent draft coming in from that wall, and im wondering if when i pull the trim off, if i can do any minor insulation fixes right there while its off. (the outer wall is a brick wall on that side of the house, and i have no clue what type of insualtion (is in the wall currently)

mrs.cos
Todays Progress- I got more done than i had planned. I got all the pressbaord up from the floor from everywhere but the fridge area. I moved the stove as well, which was NO where near as heavy or awkward to move as i expected it to be. And for those who never move their stove to clean under, around it, do yourself a favor and do it.. lord was that gross. I picked up all the hardibacker, screws, thin-set, grout, and set delivery for the tile for saturday. http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor9.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor10.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor11.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor12.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor13.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor15.jpg
mrs.cos
Well despite me saying i wasnt going to do anything last night.. I lied and decided to break my back some more. I laid three sheets of the hardibacker, on top of grout, and pulled the trim from the walls. I also laid out for the most part there rest of the sheets to get an idea of where i needed to make cuts. 10 Hardiebacker-3 580 screws- 174 last night= 408 more to go!! 150 tiles.. and a partridge in a pair tree.. http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor14.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor16.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor17.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor18.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor19.jpg http://www.thehaltermans.com/floor20.jpg
AJ
just want to throw this out there. your not supposed to lay the backer down like that, it needs to be staggered like wood floor or drywall to help prevent cracking.

Well at least only 3 sheets are done.. thought iw as supposed to have it not line up with the seams of the subfloor (which its not.

mrs.cos
Lesson learned. I talked to a friend who is a tiler, and he showed me how to line up the rest of them and how to put them down to make ther est of the floor correct. He's said despite my minor screwup, i can work with it, especially since its in a low traffic area.
Twistedrx7
i bought the same tile. ill find a picture laundry room Just be careful they arent really square and they do differ in thickness as well as length, i had to play with them a little bit to make sure everything lined up well. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/0219012149.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/0219012150.jpg and for fun the bathroom i just did http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/0223011339-1.jpg
