I dont know anything about computers and was banned from a website some time ago. I want to still keep up to date on builds and read what people are saying still. Is there anything I can do to my computer or reset something so it doesnt know my computer when trying to look at the forum?

i dont remember much from my cisco classes that i took 10 years ago but i think it depends if they banned your ip or your mac address. if they banned your ip, you might be able to request your internet provider to change it, if they banned your mac, i dont think there is much you can do unless you mask your mac

found this on google http://www.a3webtech.com/index.php/get-around-a-website-ban.html

I've never heard of a site banning your MAC, most of the time they ban your IP. Changing your IP is usually simple: log into your router and go to the "Clone Mac Address" settings. Clone your computers Mac address (or just make one up) then power-cycle your modem. When your connection comes back online (usually a minute or two) you should have a new IP. If you're not connected through a router there is another way to do it but it's a little more complicated.

Used it all the time back in the day, some AV's will flag it as a virus because it messes with system32 bullshit but it's clean.

ITT: People who don't know what the fucks up

mmmkay then buddy. Like I haven't got perma(IP)-banned for http://www.isights.com/ogf/smilies/trollin.gif dozens of times. The easiest way to get around an IP ban is to change your IP using the instructions I posted above. It takes all of three mintues and it's permenant.

Unless your ISP reassigns you one of the IP addresses in their ip block, which does you no good. Or if you have a static IP, or are on timewarner/wow which this usually doesnt work on.

Test by going to an anonymizer site first. If you can do what you like, they have banned your IP. If they have banned you via some session cookie read, then you have to go get rid of that cookie. So, IF you can't browse via Anonymizer, then try in another browser.

They can't have killed you via MAC address because they wouldn't know the mac address, unless your computer is on the same L2 domain as the web server (you share the same switch).

+1

thats why if you call them they will change your address or just shorten your lease time.

No they won't. It isn't something some stupid CSR can do.

The best way to get a new IP is to unplug your modem for the night. When you go to bed - unplug your modem - when you wake it up plug it back in, and you should have a new IP address.
