How's it going? My name is Kevin and I drive a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe.

I bought the car brand new in 2003 and Procharged it promptly blowing the motor with about 5k miles on it. I then sold the Procharger and built the bottom end dropping the compression. An APS TT kit for a 350Z was custom modified to fit the car. Many of the parts were 350Z parts made to fit the longer G35. Had I waited a few years they would have had G35 specific parts but oh well. Most of the work was done by Jim at Quick Rev!.

 

The car now has about 22K miles on it and hardly ever gets driven. I currently have a massive oil leak coming from the drain hose on the drivers side turbo. Trying to get a new hose but running in to issues.

 

I own a few small companies and work a full time job. One of the companies makes automotive electronics - http://www.kptechnologies.com. Most of the parts are geared towards Nissan/Infiniti vehicles but we do have some universal products. I also own a Verizon Wireless store right at 70 and 75. My full time job involves running a maintenance department for a large manufacturing company. Besides cars I also like to play with real estate (its nice to have stuff appreciate instead of the depreciate).

 

I'm a member on most of the Dayton boards and some Cincy boards but never joined here for some reason.

We don't typical reverse engineer anything - we design everything from the ground up. We do all of our engineering and manufacturing in house so we can make small quantities of products at decent prices. What exactly are you looking to do? We currently have a module that uses both TPS and RPM signals to do two step and "speed shift" features. Assuming we could use that circuit board to accomplish what you need the price would be surprisingly low. If a custom board has to be made then obviously the cost will go up quickly as there is much more engineering and manufacturing costs associated with a custom low quantity board.

the duel window switch i have now i can set what TPS% i want trigger 1 to turn on and what RPM i want trigger 2 to turn on is how i am running it. if i had something that turned on 1 trigger wire at a certain TPS and RPM that would be awesome.

Do the setpoints need to programmable or can they be fixed (ie hard coded)? Either way I don't think it would be too difficult to do.

 

Not sure what your current application is but you should be able to combine the two outputs to make 1 output with 1 or 2 relays.

for my car i have them set at 25% TPS and 3000 RPM. if/when i want to sell this system since there isn't out out already i would want it adjustable. it can power a relay if need be but all it needs to power is a 12v vacuum solenoid.

Any idea how much current the vacuum solenoid requires?

 

I could pretty easily set up a dial on the board to select TPS trigger point and then have a programmable RPM. We typically run (-) 500mA outputs from the modules. If the vacuum solenoid draws less then 400mA no relay would be required. If you need more then that a relay can be added to the board, but I typically like to make them external in case they fail (much easier to replace a $3 relay then a $xx board).

More stuff from the car:

 

The car runs a UTEC "stand alone" ECU. The UTEC controls the engine directly over 1PSI and then returns to the stock ECU when boost drops below the setpoint. The output of the UTEC runs to a PC in the trunk and then the PC displays key parameters on the stock navi screen. I can switch between the stock navi and the added PC by holding down the "ENTER" button on the navi system for 2 seconds.

 

The computer was mounted to a piece of plexi glass that was custom fit to center of the spare tire. If I ever need the spare it takes about 2 minutes to pull the PC out and disconnect all the wires. I was originally concerned about heat damage but so far I haven't had any issues. I have a couple fans blowing right over the motherboard, but still there is little room to draw fresh air from after the trunk mat is put back down.

By using this system I was able to not install any visible gauges in the car. I do have a boost gauge and wideband stashed away in the center console. One of my main goals was to keep the car as stock looking as possible while making it a bit more fun to drive.

Nice, welcome.

 

BTW, AJ, my friend did something similar for his Eagle Talon that had a dual runner intake manifold. At a certain RPM (not sure if it's linked to throttle position too) it will trigger a solenoid and switch to the short runners. At first he was talking about using a shift light as the trigger, but not sure what he ended up with.
