TTQ B4U
When scanning old photos or news articles: Probably one of the most difficult issues to resolve for the average family is to remove texture from paper or print when scanning images. Thankfully, Photoshop has a vast array of followers and some really good editors out there. Many of whom take the bull by the horns and write both filters and actions to solve many of today's most difficult problems. I'm using animated gifs for comparison sake thus the final image is a little limited in terms of depth and thus may appear a slight bit pixelated, but you get the point. News Paper Scan This image is pretty representative of what you would find when scanning a photo from a news paper article. http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg378/pdqgp/Before%20and%20After/comparison-newspaper.gif Old Prints on Textured Paper: Next is typical of older prints that even though they were done on an inexpensive familiy camera, they were printed on textured paper that doesn't lend itself to scanning very well. There are some tips and tricks to scanning them to help reduce the impact that the paper causes, but often times clients come to me with what they have done or have at hand and I do not have the opportunity to do anything but turn to Photoshop. http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg378/pdqgp/Before%20and%20After/no-texture-comparison.gif Here's a third example that's common for all types of prints from the 60's-70's: http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg378/pdqgp/Before%20and%20After/great-example.gif Edited June 15, 2011 by TTQ B4U
