CENTRAL OHIO -- Troopers, Columbus officers and local deputies are holding two OVI checkpoints Friday night into Saturday.

Columbus police is conducting a sobriety checkpoint on North High Street, south of Olentangy Street, in Clintonville. The checkpoint begins at 9 p.m. Friday and continues until about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Franklin and Delaware county sheriff's offices are holding a checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 23 in Delaware County. An intersection was not given.

The checkpoint also is conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes. That OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.

How successful do they plan on being when they tell the news when and where they will be?

Should also be noted that bar hoppers should plan on taking the bar car this weekend, do not drive anything that stands out. This has been a message of the public broadcasting service.
