If you're looking for a serious relaxation factor, go to St. Johns. There are a few B&Bs/condos on Cruz Bay that you can rent for 7-14 days. Airfare is $500-600 roundtrip from Columbus (CMH) to St. Thomas (STT), then a ferry ride over to St. Johns.

I still think often of how beautiful that island is. Caneel Bay for snorkeling, Jost Van Dyke (Dutch Island) for crazy nights, awesome local restaurants and bars. Kenny Chesney's got a pimp place overlooking Caneel, and I think that guy likes a relaxed atmosphere. :)

It's NOT TOURISTY, but that is a major advantage for me...great people and locals.

apple vacations... we went to Mexico at a VERY nice resort, all inclusive, I think we paid like 3k for 7 days and that was including flights and everything... Apple seems to take care of their people and they handle everything... all you do is bring yourself and follow the signs when you land.

BTW +eleventy billion for Hawaii, but I think that might be out of your budget... we dropped ALOT of coin when we went 2 years ago.

You all can give me some ideas on a budget too please. We are paying for ours after just buying a house. We want to go someplace but dont want to spend a ton. We were wanting to go to grand canyon but its to mnuch time off work to travel by car. Any ideas?

Not that Vegas is a great honeymoon destination, but you could fly to Vegas and drive to the GC in 5-6 hours and flights to Vegas aren't terribly $$. Just an option possibly.

Costa Rica is beautiful. You have great beaches to choose from and wonderful volcanoes, arenal volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world they have great resorts. You could stay there a couple days then go to all inclusive beach resort.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

I've been to quite a few places around the world, but I don't think I've ever had as much fun anywhere else. The "do whatever you want" aspect of it is great. You can walk out of your hotel room with an alcoholic drink, right onto the beach, into a cab, on the streets, into one bar, and right back out. Weather is amazing, lots of activities like jet skiing, parasailing, booze cruises, etc. The nightlife is amazing. Downtown is one big party and cab rides are cheap especially since they are vans and you will most likely be sharing it with people. There are tons of restaurants there too with AMAZING food.

We did not do the all-inclusive thing, but became friends with some people who had it and they used it to it's fullest and then some. If you're planning on eating and drinking a shitload then it's definitely worth it. We went to Walmart for food and drinks during the day (which kept it cheap), and then at night we spent cash at the bars and nice restaurants so it wouldn't have made sense for us.

That's the hotel we stayed at.

This, cabo was a great time.

Go somewhere you will never be able to go again. We did Moorea, French Polynesia. Absolutely beautiful. It's the honeymoon capital of the world and there's good reason. A lot of people we met there booked through tahiti-for-less.com and it sounded like they had some decent deals (a few days in Moorea, a few days in Bora Bora).

Neither of us are really beach people, so we went to Vegas. Had a blast. Lots to do and great food! We stayed at Treasure Island for 4 nights and it cost us around $1,200 with flight. We walked everywhere too.

Hawaii

, We went to hawaii for our honeymoney best choice we ever made. I think we did it all for around 3g including a dinner cruise, Some sea animal resort including my wife swimming with the dolphins, I rented a dodge Viper for a day to go see Star Wars. Drank allot , went to a island dinner with all you could drink. Rented a Mustang covertible for a day to site see. Visited Pearl Harbor (very sombering) .

Pretty much lived it up but i stayed in the cheapest hotel i could find with in walking distance of the beech and I booked my flight with travelocity .

I just got back from my honeymoon last week. We went to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), stayed at the Hard Rock Resort and Casino. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. The rooms were incredibly nice (and with a two person jacuzzi in each), food was awesome (24hr room service included in the all inclusive was awesome, and MANY a la cart places, not just buffets), beach and pools were gorgeous, etc. There wasn't a single aspect that we were not overly happy with. Only thing I can't really speak towards is price... we went through my parent's RCI membership.

We did a Christmas trip to Punta Cana a few years ago and had a good time. Although, I would never leave the resorts. It's not the safest place to be, and at all the merchant tents people will hassle the SHIT out of you. We did it for pretty cheap though and the resort, beach, and water were nice.

Agreed, I wouldn't leave the resort. We purposefully chose a resort that was the size of a village for that very reason. Neither of us give a crap about culture... we wanted great food, great beaches and great pools, and it delivered.

I'll agree with you, Steve. Cruises are a great way to relax when you want to and party when you want to. There's a lot to do and aside from alcohol, the prices are really nice.

Paul, I think Ashley has some of our honeymoon pics on Facebook if you want to check them out.

i second this emotion.

went to sandals grande at st lucia with my wife about 5 years ago before we had kids. amazing, amazing trip. you can't go wrong with sandals--food, alcohol, accommodations were all top-notch. plenty to do. probably the best vacation i've been on, no question.

we went for 7 days, all inclusive, and it should fit your budget

My experience is not my own, but my parents. They went to Little Dix Bay (lol) in the British Virgin Islands. If you have a passport, I highly suggest anywhere in the BVI. They described Little Dix Bay as being very quiet and secluded.

Also, I've been to the Bitter End Yacht Club about 6 times and loved it every time. Theres some kids at BEYC but just as many honeymooning couples. It also has the perk of being 1 island away from Necker Island (Sir Richard Branson's private island) so in the winter months, there's a good chance you'll see some royalty or celebrity at BEYC for dinner. Very much a sailing/windsurfing/SCUBA/watersports focus at BEYC and its kiiiinda expensive. still worth a look though.
