I had someone in high school tell me that it was impossible to burn "there" ouija board. I had said person bring the board out to my house. I then shot it with a gun and caught it on fire. Both seemed very effective in dealing with the mystical powers of the almighty milton bradley.

So, my question to you is; Do you think they work?

A little more insight on my parents house. It was built in 1876. Its been in our family for about 40 years. Prior to my grandfather owning the house there was a fire sometime in the 30s. It burnt half the house down and killed one person. The part that was burnt down was rebuilt shortly after. My grandfather purchased the house in 1969, to which his wife (my grandmother) died 2 years later in the living room from a stroke. My grandfather moved out in 1986 giving the house to my father.

Since the death of my grandmother strange things have happened. personally, there was one occasion i remember vividly when i was little. The entire family was watching tv in the living room. We didnt have any pets at the time so i rule that out. The first floor bedroom which was my parents at the time had a GIANT dresser/vanity thing. Somehow it got knocked over when nobody was even in that room. Another time i was sleeping, and it felt like someone grabbed my leg then immediately let go. I know it wasnt part of a dream because when i opened my eyes my cat was wide eyed staring into the darkness of my bedroom. Another time i was on my computer late one night. In the corner of my eye i caught a figure sweep across the room in the reflection of the window. Turned around and nothing was there.

My father, still to this day, swears that when i was an infant he would hear footsteps going up and down the stairs in the middle of the night, along with the faint smell of cigarette smoke, when neither of my rents smoked. He too said he experienced someone grabbing his leg one afternoon when he was trying to sleep. Keep in mind i hadn't mentioned to him that it had happened to me until he said something.

So, Thats where my intuition to use a ouija board comes from. The movie paranormal activity did give me the idea. I think it would be interesting just to see what happends.

Jeffro, I believe you.

I have a story of my own. We lived in an old house (1800's)since I was born til I was 5. I have no recollection of this, but my brother, sister and I all lived up stairs. We would wake up screaming, and I explained to my mom that in the dark, I saw what appeared to be "electronic jailbars". Later in another instance, we were upstairs asleep, and my mom heard heavy boot footsteps upstairs, went to investigate, and it was nothing. No one else home.

A few yrs later, a kid I went to HS moved into the house. He knew I had lived there several years prior. We were semi aquainted, but one day pulled me aside during class changes and asked me if the house was haunted.

Jeffro, I believe you, I've encountered a bit of paranormal activity in my time, either you believe it or you dont. At any rate, a ouiji board is not a good tool for investigation. If you'd like to know my thoughts and personal experiences, feel free to pm me.

I believe our house is haunted as well. When my wife was pregnant we was laying in bed and heard what sounded like running up our stairs. Thinking it was our dog I called for him only to find he was laying next to the bed the whole time. A couple weeks after that I was in the basement doing laundry when I heard foot steps across the floor above me, my dog was with me and his ears perked up. I went up stairs to investigate thining maybe my dad or brother in law had just walked in since they generally don't knock. Nope house was empty.

Fast forward to my son starting to sleep in his room by himself. He absolutely refuses to, he will fall asleep only to wake up screaming bloody murder, sweating and looking absolutely horrified. He will sleep just fine in our room without us in there. As soon as he goes back in his room its a different story. There is also times where he will be standing and just wave at nothing, which kind of creeps me out.

The person that lived in our house prior to us actually stops by frequently as his in laws are my neighbors. 1 day when talking to him we got on this subject about ghost and all that fun stuff. He asked me if I had encoutered the ghost yet, apparently when he lived here (14 years worth), he had several expierences in the same manner as I have had. He claims that the ghost is not evil or anything of that nature, but mischivious (spell check).

Do I believe in ghost, i'm not sure as I have never actually met one lol. I do have suspicions that there is something after life and maybe ghost do exist, who knows lol

Okay guys, since everyone is telling their personal stories with ghosts and the paranormal, I guess I will too.

As many of you know, I'm a psychologist and married. I love my work and I truly love my wife, but strange things have been happening lately. My wife has seemed distant and appears unduly preoccupied with work. So unlike her. Also, I have had a few challenging cases at work lately. Sometimes, I feel certain I've reached a correct diagnosis on a patient, only then to question myself about it later. I've tried to consult some of my textbooks on clinical diagnoses, but they're locked in our cellar, and for some reason I can never get the cellar door open. I know, totally weird. I finally decided to confront my wife about her being distant and ask for her advice on what might be going on in the house, but she was asleep when I got home - or she was just pretending to be asleep, I dunno. I think there's definitely hope for us, though, since she fell asleep while watching home movies of our wedding. Admittedly, I was touched by that, as it shows me that she still cares even though we haven't communicated very openly with each other lately. (There was an awkward moment at dinner a few weeks ago, but I'll spare you the details of that.) Something else I noticed was that it was very cold in our house, like the temperature had dropped rapidly. I read somewhere about that possibly being a sign of a ghost being in your house?

I think when I shot it, it pretty much took all the fight out of the board. They should have shot it first.

Is it made by Milton-Bradley? Then it is nothing but a toy.

Real thing, possibly different story in the right hands. I have had expeirences with them. Nothing I would ever believe or trust. But I will say, be careful, they are an open door and you might attract something you don't want or don't know how to deal with.

As someone who is into the super natural I would expect you would know Hasbro currently is the maker of The talking board .

Totally agree. I've had my own experiences and its something that has not left me till this day.

This brings some serious stuff to question. If you utterly believe this stuff is not real, why do it? there is no fun in doing it. If you think there may be a chance it's real, then you are an idiot for messing with it. Think about it, if you think there is a possibility of some evil supernatural ish happeneing, why in the world would you voluntarily bring it to fruition? It's bad enough we all are influenced by satan every day and turn a blind eye to it, but to conciously will this kind of stuff into being, that's beyond me.

(noleaf, this isn't directed at you, just touching on your point.)

Who's to say it reaches out to the negative. Why couldn't it be for the positive? Since the board was made popular during WW I it was being used to "Help" make decision against the other side.
