10phone2
I swear, this thread is way more useful than the shit on tv. Apparently we are suppose to have light flurries tonight, but when I went outside the shit has hit the fan. Jeffro, any suggestion for radar forecasting of weather movement? jeffro
I swear, this thread is way more useful than the shit on tv. Apparently we are suppose to have light flurries tonight, but when I went outside the shit has hit the fan. Jeffro, any suggestion for radar forecasting of weather movement? http://www.simuawips.com has everything you need next chance for precipitation will be next week around the 17th (Tuesday) As of now, its forcasted to be a rain, cold rain switching over to a little bit of show. Nothing measurable at this point. As always, 100% subject to change GFS: http://i.imgur.com/kkb3b.gif http://i.imgur.com/16yWc.gif http://i.imgur.com/Zw3JD.gif Changeover occurring around 6PM tuesday http://i.imgur.com/UmqCu.gif I think we could see some snow showers much like tonight once the cold sets in. Coming down right off the lakes http://i.imgur.com/dcPqn.gif http://i.imgur.com/3hRxX.gif DGEX: also in agreement on rain, cold rain, then a brief period of snow showers http://i.imgur.com/qsubS.gif http://i.imgur.com/PVFeo.gif http://i.imgur.com/McwSQ.gif Not so much on the lake effect, though. Murse
Hey Jeff what's the total snowfall for Thursday Friday look like?
jeffro
Funny you ask, havnt peeked in a day or two. Actually looks good for the next week or so. The first system in tonight/tomorrow will just be rain. with a rapid freeze up on wedesday. The system your talking about has the potential to drop some snow on us. Its actually a clipper system: GFS:This will all be frozen with good ratios. Looks like north of i70 could see an inch, and south could see a dusting. Trying to be conservative here as im usually way off. HAHA http://i.imgur.com/Lbqt1.gif The good news is that there appears to be another system behind this one that has the potential to drop some more snow:Anything can happen but it looks 1-3 is a possibility with that sytem when all is said and done on saturday. As of now, this would all be frozen. For both systems http://i.imgur.com/AD2yr.gif http://i.imgur.com/w0q3F.gif Edited January 16, 2012 by jeffro
mmrmnhrm
http://i.imgur.com/w0q3F.gif What unit of measurement is this image in? Tenths of an inch?
Murse
It's snowfall in total inches. So it's saying we'll get between 3-4 according to the chart. It goesnt mean that will be the accumulation tho

jeffro
nice little clipper going to roll through tomorrow night. be guess is 1-2" again. These little system are annoying aye? Theres another system going to roll through this weekend. There are big discrepancies between the 06Z nam and the 12Z GFS, especially as far as temps go. GFS gives all frozen i70 North while the NAM says ice/rain down the i70/i80 corridor. If it were to stay frozen we could see a few inches of additional accumulation on top of tomorrows clipper. GSXRAntwon
So a 5:1 ratio? Or higher?
jeffro
So a 5:1 ratio? Or higher? id think like 8 or 9 to one. either way, youll see some plowable snow. especially on the north end of the city.
