87GT Posted December 2, 2011 Report Share Posted December 2, 2011 I suggest you go to NASR and rent all or most of the pistols they have. They also offer training classes which seem great. I took my conceal carry course there and it was very informative. Even if you don't want to carry taking this course would benefit you being new. Avenger1647545502 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Share Posted December 2, 2011 I always recommend a .22 BOLT-ACTION rifle for starting out. Preferably iron sights too. Learning a proper hold and sight picture is key, all else will proceed from there. The bolt action pretty much requires a learner to re-acquire the target for each shot, and also has the benefit of reducing the "oops" factor somewhat.
