I didn't put in the lower shelves because I had different storage I wanted to put under there. I'll never criticize someone who chooses to build their own vs use the kit or vice versa. The only thing I will criticize are people who say they need a bench but don't have the time to build one when there are kits like this out there. Kobalt has some decent versions at Lowe's that would pretty much take care of most shade tree mechanic's needs. So does Menards. Mine had about 4 hours into it.
