turbospec29
I have the chance to pick up what seems to be a pretty decent deal on a pair of 99 yamaha xl760s for $3k with a dual trailer. Given that they are in good shape, is that a good price? They are a friend of mines and have been in storage for 2 years, what should I look for when I go see them? I've never owned any type of pwc or watercraft before, and this seems like a reasonably inexpensive way into something.
wnaplay1647545503
If they are on a trailer, start, and no major issues $3k seems like a decent deal. Were they winterized properly or 1/2 way in the middle of the lake is the gas thats now turpentine going to make for a shitty day? Prepare yourself, owning a watercraft isnt as fun as it seems. It can be alot of work for a little fun if you dont know what your doing.

In the 3 years I've owed my 98 xl1200 I've only had to replace rhe stater(original starter from 98) hell I even sunk my jet ski and it runs like a top lol. Both skis on a trailer would be a great deal as a starter..but the 760s might be underpowered... idk that's just me my 1200 feels uinderpowered but that's just me. Those will be fun to putt around and tube on. And gets greeeat gas milage... I would jump on them as long as theystart up fine and seem to be in good shape. wnaplay1647545503
Dont listen to paul he rarely has anything that stays running. I have owned more watercraft than Paul has broken. If your going to do it right dont just jump into something because you think its a good deal.

But really the yamahas are reliable as hell but being a 98 its probably got all original parts so u might be dumping money intothem from time to time (my xl 1200 needed a starter this year and my 98 gp1200 needed a new stator)
Linn1647545492
Keith, Like Paul asked, was the ski winterized? If it wasn't you will have to deal with getting all the shit fuel out of the ski and making sure water didn't freeze in the motor/exhaust. You will at least have to replace the oil/filters, plugs and batteries. A good deal on those ski would be $2k or less. Here is one on Ebay for $1200 NADA said retail price is $2k per ski. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-yamaha-760-60-MPH-/190622470661?pt=Personal_Watercraft&hash=item2c61fc1205

Is there any part of the jet drive that might be worn out or anything I could see to check for? And I prefer not looking strait out of the 80s John They are just like this, http://photos.ecarlist.com/Gk/S4/Hm/Dv/De/GP/h2/PM/lL/sH/oQ_640.jpg

Stallion Motorsports1647545491
http://columbus.craigslist.org/boa/2726911991.html this guy has been asking too much money since the middle of summer. 3k for a set of starter skis that run is a decent deal. you will have money in titles, stickers, batteries, plugs, fluid etc. i would guess you could use for a season and sell in early august for what you have in them. tom
turbospec29
What does it cost to get them registered? Do they need insured? Trying to get a rough idea on costs vs maybe a small boat

Good to see they were updated. How many hours are on the skis?

I do know they have never have any real work done as far as replacing anything, just basic maintenance.
