dakotart
I think it is the windows update folder. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-performance/winsxs-folder-consuming-enormous-disk-space/b99f2d7c-9264-4b9a-bca6-b1b4b0aadf47
Nate1647545505
Probably already thought of this but you can always use the trusty System Tools > Disk Cleanup with all the options checked.
Putty
So I better leave this stuff where it is?? Is that what I'm hearing?
Second Gen
To answer your question no.. I had to remove my old 40 Gig SSD and repalce with a 120 gig'er to fix it. Another option is to reinstall Win 7 (Slipstream version including SP1) and that will reduce it for a while. The link below high levels what it is used for and why it will always be amonster on your HD. http://blogs.technet.com/b/joscon/archive/2010/08/06/should-you-delete-files-in-the-winsxs-directory-and-what-s-the-deal-with-vss.aspx IT - The reason we all love computers
SpaceGhost
I'd say go for it, then go buy a Mac.

CRed05
Fuck it! Going back to iPad. Clearly this PC isn't used for any kind of actual work if it can be replaced with an ipad I'd say go for it, then go buy a Mac. If no actual work is to be performed, and you have money to waste, I also recommend this option.

Akula
Looks like graphics card logs. Rename the files to have a .bak extension and reboot, if your system is jacked, remove the .bak
