koolrayz
More eye candy. I got my All Pro intake and Berry Elbow polished. This thing is a mirror. I still have a find a 1” spacer that I like. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05764.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05763.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05762.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05761.jpg

koolrayz
In my ongoing effort to update the car with the latest and greatest parts I have teamed up with Eric at Midwest Chassis I will be swapping out the entire suspension system to Midwest. The new K-member is lighter and will mount the rack in a way to give me more engine clearance there spindles and arms are lighter and will offer more adjustability. The new much lighter torque arm will offer more adjustability. The fabricated rear end with an aluminum housing and pro gear will chop a ton of weight off the car. Coupled with the afco double adustable coil overs and anti roll bar I’m looking forward to some much better power management. I was all coffee’d up and stripped the entire suspension out of the car this morning and disassembled the parts. Major garage sale in progress with two 9” rearends for sale http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05845.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05863-1.jpg
koolrayz
Got my fuel rails and a spacer. The spacer needs about 3/16ths knocked out of the corners but it is closer than the other ones I tried. I will drill and tap some holes for sensors and the BOV, then get it polished so it will match the rest of the intake. I think I am going to clear coat it to cut down on the maintenance. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05841.jpg
koolrayz
Got some more parts. I love the Design Engineering Products. I will have a lot of interference with the oil and radiator lines so I got these hose covers. Good for 2000* radiant heat. The spark plug insulating kits work great and the titanium wrap speaks for itself. Got a blanket to insulate the dry sump pump and a beautiful turbine housing blanket. I can’t wait to see these products on the car. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05838.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05836.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05835.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05834.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05833.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05832.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05831.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05830.jpg
koolrayz
Got my Peterson 5 stage dry sump pump, permanent oil filter and tank. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05758.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05759.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05755.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05754.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05756.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05757.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05753.jpg
koolrayz
Got my new oil pan, Jeff Johnston Billet fabrications. ½” thick rail. It has three outlets to the 5 stage dry sump. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05734.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05735.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05736.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05737.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05738.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC05739.jpg
LS_Sonoma
Beautiful parts, Ray. I have a couple questions though. Would a three stage dry sump system be sufficient for a street turbo setup? And with as much custom work as you have to do in regards to building your on ride, would it be beneficial to have a lathe/mill to be competitive in the X275 class? Just wondering if a mill would pay for itself.
koolrayz
I would love to have my old bridgeport mill back and a small lathe but I dont have the room. The factory LS7 two stage dry sump is a great budget system. A 3 or a 4 stage would also work well because you have the option of using a stage to scavange the turbo drain

Mattsv8
that oil pump looks like little roots blowers. how much boost does that pump build. 60psi!!! thats a lot of boost.

Thats exactly what it is, a four lobe patented system that is the most efficient rotor made. Petersons makes some really nice billet parts look on there website. The_buster
so noob question here.. whats the oil sump system for?
ChevyMan1972
"Dry Sump" oiling system is designed to keep the oil off the crankshaft for higher RPM engines and more horsepower. DW
The_buster
so it takes off the weight of the oil being on the crank. making it lighter?
Richard Cranium
so it takes off the weight of the oil being on the crank. making it lighter? Yeah, that helps a little. My understanding is since the pan is basically empty the crank can rotate without sloshing through the oil (think airplane propeller vs. boat propeller, which one has less resistance?) Also, you get the benefit under high G acceleration that the pump cannot go dry, starving the motor of oil like a traditional pan/pump. Cordell
Well the oiling system is a little over my head since all I've seen in action is the factory Vette systems, hopefully I'll get a chance to see it in person so you can give me a rundown on the advantages. Is the oil pan designed with the thought of strengthening the bottom end at all? How are the mains going to look in the engine? Billet? Girdle? koolrayz
As others have stated there are windage improvements from the lack of free oil in the engine bay. Vacumn helps seat the rings. G- forced in the car starting and stopping cause starvation of the stock pickup. The stock oil pump is known to cavitat at high RPM and on an engine with loose tolerances no factory style pump will keep up. I can change the pulleys to match the oil pump to the engines flow needs. In short it is total control over the oiling system. Billet mains pinned and a girdle. :fuckyeah:

I'm a little more interested in the plumbing but I'll have to see it in person. Pinned billet mains with a girdle sounds about as strong as it gets. Cool stuff.
