My girlfriend's 3G has springboard crashes all the time, whenever daylight savings kicks in the alarm is screwy for a month, and the battery remaining only changes if you reboot so at a glance there's no way to tell how much charge its got.

Hopefully when her contract is up in june it will make a halfway decent ipod while she's using an android phone

probably my problem. Id love to revert it to unrooted, but i dont know how.

All you do is push a stock image back to the phone. There is different apps for different phones. It is pretty easy and starts you over as if you just bought the phone.

You don't have to unroot it, just flash a stock rooted rom. That's all I ever run, stock reliability but still all the benefits of being rooted. If you really want to unroot it just flash a stock rom.

Have you tried a hard reset? Meaning hold both the power button and the home button until it goes all the way black and boots to the apple logo, not just using the power off slider.

The few times I have had issues I was all good after a hard reset. It's like any other computer. EDIT: that won't fix the daylight savings clock bug, though if it has the latest ROM (4.2.1?) it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

So in one year you're saying both platforms had an increase in the number of crashes and the difference has gone from .36% to .69%.

WOW! Fucking stop the presses!!!

Look at this way, both are increasing but the end results are still only .69% from one another. But when you look at the rate of increase of these crashes are occurring, the growth rate of Android crashes outpace iOS at nearly 3x the rate.

iOS started at .51% grown up to 3.66% yields and rate of growth: 617%

Androids start at .15% and end at 2.97% yielding a rate of 1880%

So in conclusion it's still good be an iOS user as even as both platforms experience tremendous growth, Androids are experiences more difficulty as they grow than iOS. Likely due to the fragmentation of their market. I also would have to question since Apple has so many more apps avaiable doesn't it make sense the number of crashes is going to go up? The article was at lease fair in pointing out that iOS5 did just launch during the study whereas Android 4.0 had not hit the market yes. In any case, I would say the finger is more likely to be pointed at developers not he OS platform they are developing on.

FWIW, I have never experiences a single hard lock up need to hard-reset any of my iPhones ever. The only time I ever get an app that will crash is with Flashlight and it's rare. The cause is it's the very last app I use every night as I make my way to bed and there are likely 3,432 other apps I have paused in the taskbar sucking up memory. If I close just a couple, it works without issue. Note to self, close your apps.

Some stuff and then this: If I close just a couple, it works without issue. Note to self, close your apps.

Yes, I forgot to mention this earlier. I wonder how many of those people (on both sides) with issues have shitloads of aps downloaded and/or running. Or just install whatever and wonder why they have issues.
