The_buster
Is it possible to make a twin turbo car with a supercharger on it as well? Don't worry I'm not planning this for the civic. A theoretical car would be chevell/charger or mid to late 90s camaro/trans am.

nurkvinny
The term you're looking for is twincharged.
POS VETT
Of course. HKS had a "twincharger" kit for AW11 and VW has "tsi" line.
ICEMAN1647545504
It ha been done on a couple of 03 04 Cobras. The idea behind it is that the supercharger will spool the turbos faster because it creates more heat to drive the turbos.
Cordell
Stuff like this was experimented with decades ago, honestly it just sounds like lots of hot air. There are reasons why this type shit doesn't catch on, like the fact that one correctly sized turbo or superchager would produce all the CFM an engine would ever need. Aaron
VW has "tsi" line. VW's TSI designation does not mean twincharged.
Mr. Jones
VW's TSI designation does not mean twincharged. IIRC, The 1.4TSI is Twincharged. :gabe:

twistedfocus1647545489
Compound boost like that has been around since the 60s. It works, particularly in the case of the Hellion kits for the Cobras but I think it's just unnecessarily complicated with today's technology. Nate1647545505
Sure is, Opel was one of the first to use this design in racing; it was first used on two stroke diesel setups. More air mass in + more fuel mass added = more exhaust mass to bring the turbine online. The trick is to build a system where the bypass can handle the mass flow without choking. Or, if you don't like belts, you can use a staged multi turbo system: http://www.turbos.bwauto.com/products/r2s.aspx

That was once said about camshafts, yet we now have completely indepdent variable camshafts that produce very noticeable differences in power, enough to become a standard in this day and age. The_buster
Thanks for the input. I think it would look neat the two turbos poking through the bumper and then a blower up top. Imo

His did not have the HKS kit; it was a Frankenstein. The car was sold about a year ago. His name is Stevan.

We got to go to his place and look at his car years ago when I still had my AW11, was pretty awesome. Twincharging was semi-popular on AW1X MR2's.
