1973 Colt Combat Commander 1911

I picked up this series 70 colt 7-8 months ago. The gun is in great shape with some holster wear. I am told this was a carry gun at one point (not my first choice for carry, but hey). Since I bought it it has received a 20lb recoil spring, firing pin spring, sear spring and a dovetail safety. I have all the original parts as well. It needs a slide lock lever as the follower on the magazines don't actuate it to lock the slide back on empty. Otherwise a fully functional gun, those levers can be picked up from wilson combat for around $30. This gun does have a Bar Sto barrel.

This gun shoots great, I regret to list it but I need the money. I am looking for $650.

Satin finished 70 series combat commander are hard to find. What was done to the front strap ? Looks like someone did some custom stippling or a bead blast on it. The sights look like milletts. Are they cut into the top of the slide. I would like to find an original or one I could turn back to factory original.

Yeah someone stippled it by hand, its not too unsightly and they are very shallow so i am sure you could refinish it however you prefer. I can get some pics of the sights here when I get back to the house.

As far as I can tell the rear sight is the only one that someone cut metal on. If the pics don't do it justice you are more than welcome to see it in person.

Great looking colt, $650 seems a fair price I'm sure it's worth it. Look on armslist.com you'll see colts for much much more(90% of everything on there is over priced tho) I have a highly customized colt and love it, shoots sub 3 inch groups at 50 yards, I'm sure this thing is a tac driver as well with that barrel and I'm assuming a hand fit barrel link.
