Maybe for on-site security personnel? I'm sure all the radar equipment is pretty valuable.

Real question is, if it is for security, why do they get to use hollow points (besides the obvious fact)? Our military can't even use hollow points!

Due to a clerical error in the federal business vendor process, a solicitation for ammunition and targets for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement mistakenly identified NOAA’s National Weather Service as the requesting office. The error is being fixed and will soon appear correctly in the electronic federal bidding system. The ammunition is standard issue for many law enforcement agencies and it will be used by 63 NOAA enforcement agents in their twice annual target qualifications and training.

I saw an article on Fox news today with pictures of a bunch of .22 LR hollow point calling them "the deadly ammunition...." Seriously, can at least Fox not be gun-weeeetarded? That and if I hear the term "high powered rifle" from the media one more fucking time...

Actually, now I guess I finally pieced it together... .22 LR is "deadly ammunition" and by definition anything over .22 is from a "high powered rifle." Wonder when they'll declare air guns "weapons of mass desctruction...."

I was playing with guns the other day and accidentally shot myself square in the face. Good thing it wasn't one of those deadly hollow points or I might've been dead.

In other news, sky is blue, grass is green.
