I started this last year with a few friends and it turned out better then I ever expected it to, goal was 50 cars and 100 toys, we had over 60 cars and 252 toys collected plus 2 bikes. This year the goals are higher with 100 cars and 300 toys in mind. This isn't a car show by any means so don't be afraid to bring out whatever car you wish. Last year we got lucky with 60* weather, hoping for the same this year. Its a great excuse to bust out your car one last time for the year plus you feel great afterwards knowing you helped out some needy children. I know the economy is rough therefore the only requirement is everyone buy 1 Boy and 1 Girl toy. I don't care how much or how little you spend doing this. I had people donate 2 boxes of crayons last year and I had others donate 6 toys. I would prefer everything to be bought at Meijers since they allow us to hold the event there and it shows them that we are thankful for that. However I will no turn down toys bought elsewhere haha. The toys are going to be divided up this year, most going to The House of New Hope foster home here in St. Louisville on route 13. The remaining toys will be taken to the salvation army just as we did last year. I have a police escort lined up to help make this go as smoothly as possible. If anyone has any more questions feel free to ask, I will do my best to answer them asap! They stated that they are going to be supplying Christmas to 125 children this year! Copying what I just posted on our facebook page so you all can see it too if you havent either liked our page or rsvp'd "Just wanted to throw this out there again for those that have joined recently. We do not require you to buy the toys from Meijers, however we do highly encourage it. There are a couple reasons, first they were the only store in town willing to allow us to hold the event in their parking lot. Secondly, it just seems logical to show up at the event, run into the store, grab some toys and come donate them lol. Again, this is not required, just something encouraged!" I know the name sort of confuses people but its just what was voted upon by the group of us who started it. Tuners for Tots doesn't really fit all makes/models, Cruisers for Tots sort of makes people think of motorcycles, Rodders for Tots would've pissed off the Newark Rodders Association lol.
