Mad Hatter Muffler @ Sullivant

Heard about them, never used them. The Passat had a flexpipe go bad. I order a new Bosal pipe and borrowed a welder, which unfortunately did not work. After a few weeks of living with an open V6 exhaust bank under my seat, I finally succumbed and gave them a call this morning.

Mike @ MH quoted me a looooow price since I already had the flexpipe. Went over, even THEY commented how loud my car was (and they are the muffler shop!). Got it up and realized my pipe was the wrong size. They swapped pipes out for free. Got it done in less than half an hour while I had a lovely conversation in the waiting area with Bubb Rubb regarding how the new casino will likely affect his favorite pool hall down the street.

I was beside myself for how much quieter the car is now. To boot, I knocked off a little more on the price since I paid cash.

I'm not expecting them to start doing Tubi systems on Ferrari's, but if your DD busts it's exhaust, I highly recommend these guys.:thumbup:

Almost the same exact thing happened in my jetta. I think they charged me 120$ for a new flex pipe and to reweld the pipe back to the exhaust manifold.

Few months after that there was a crazy loud rattle by my exhaust but only at idle, it honestly just sounded like a heat shield was loose and against my exhaust. Took it in to MotorKars to get my timing belt done, figured I would ask them to take a look at it, they said i needed new exhaust hangers, i didnt bother getting a quote b/c i knew they'd be over priced. Took it to Mad hatter that week, guy took me under the car and showed me the heat shield that was rattling against the exhaust, cut it off for free and i was on my way. (There was another heat shield above that one aswell so i didnt feel bad about not replacing it)

My sister needed a new muffler, Midas off sawmill quoted her like 600$ or something crazy. i took it there and they charged 100$. I'll always recommend this place. As long as you dont mind sitting in a waiting room (theres not appointments) its totally worth the trip.

haha...the waiting room conversations are completely worth the trip :D

Seriously though I heard great things about this place, I showed up and thought it was shady as fuck (people approaching me for change in the parking lot as I pull up), but the service was outstanding, they not only tell you what is wrong but show you what needs to be done, get it knocked out quickly and for reasonable money. Think the flex pipe repair on my A4 was $70. Sure the welds could be nicer but it doesn't leak and it's holding strong quite some time later.

Mechanic was even kind enough to use boards to get my car up no the ramp to no scrape the already hammered front bumper, and commented on how nice he thought my car was considering the mileage on it.

Will return for small exhaust jobs in the future.
