50cc of pure scooter MADNESS!! :lolguy:

By next summer I plan to have it stretched, lowered, wire tucked, and running a square fatty rear tire. I'm going to keep power mods simple, just to get it running better. Though if it turns out that a GY6 swap will increase the resale (more than the cost of the swap) then it'll get bumped to 150cc.

I just need to come up with a theme. I don't want to do all black. Now is the time for something more eye-catching than my usual vehicles.

One idea is to do a riff on the classic hotrod:

Whitewall or red-line tires, red wheels, possibly a half-moon rear hubcap, and chrome bits here and there among a matte or semi-gloss black finish, and a red roll-and-tuck seat. It's not as flashy as some, but it's relatively easy which might be a good idea for a first project.

Or I could go more flashy with a brightly colored frame, polished or chrome wheels, and other elements.

Haven't decided yet.

Oh, a motorcycle permit might be a good idea. ;)

But first up (not counting the permit) will be removing the floorboard and fitting a set of pegs. Since I used to ride mountain bikes, I'm just not comfortable controlling this thing while sitting down.

If it's got wheels and a motor, it doesn't stay stock in my hands:

Removed the fenders, floorboard, and plastic belly pan. Re-routed breather lines and harness to keep them out of the way.

pm spl josh hes got two of them. one he is doing motor swap and other stuff to it

Cool, good to know.

Cool! Are these cheap to buy? How fast will it go? Any pictures of other ones/inspiration pieces?

New they are $2570. $3086 out the door. I was looking for used ones, and all I could find are ones that were already modified, or stock ones costing $2000 in another state. Might as well go new.

Once it warms up, it got my big ass (6'4", 250lbs) to 35 on a relatively flat road. Supposedly just playing with the weights in the CVT is good for 5mph or so. Then there are other tuning options for the stock (GET) motor.

Here's a modified one:

Crazy Ruck: (notice the turbo)

Not a Ruck, but similar drivetrain: (heavily modified obviously)

I have never understood the appeal of a Ruckus, for the money I would rather pick up a second-hand Ninja or something.

Personally, I want to stay out of traffic as much as possible. Not to mention the slower it is, the less temptation to do stupid shit. I know my limitations and I know I would not survive a fast bike.

Some owners are city dwellers and don't need a big bike, some do this because they can't afford to mod a bigger bike or car. And frankly, scooters are just cool. :D

ive been looking into these lately. congrats on a cool project. the low mph is the big killer for me.

Well supposedly a GY6 swap will put it over 60mph without much hassle.

Didn't these used to be 2-stroke, or was that the Yamaha Zuma?

Either way, GL with the project. Not my thing, but I'll be interested to see how the project comes along...

I'm pretty sure it's 4-stroke surprisingly. I don't have to mix oil with the gas and it has a PCV system.

2nd day of ownership and I've started taking apart the mass of vacuum lines that compromise most of the emissions system. I plan to remove the stock airbox but it'll require re-jetting the carb and I'm having trouble nailing down a source for new jets. So I can either rock the stock airbox or choke down the intake once I put a filter on it.

We need a Ruckus Crew. Driving this thing to work and back is like being an ant at a line dance. I'm sure the only thing that kept me alive was a driver's fear of their insurance going up. :p I did get a wave from a guy on a street bike. Does that make me cool now?

Yeah, I thought not. :lolguy:

Anyways, I have a muffler, foot pegs, and dress-up pieces to neaten up the gas tank area on the way. The pegs will make it easier to ride/control.
