Experienced Sales Manager in search of new job

My best friend is currently on the hunt for a new job. He has worked for GFS Marketplace for the past 10 years. He started out as a stocker in high school, moved up to shift leader and has been a sales manager for the past 4-5 years. I believe he was one of the youngest upper management employees in his entire district at one point. He has the experience needed for several types of management positions, especially in retail or food service. He is also one of the most professional and hard working people I know.

If anyone knows of anything that might be a good fit, please let me know immediately! Thanks

Unfortunately no, he started working full time the moment he graduated high school. He has completed a handful of courses at Columbus State but between working 60+ hours a week and getting married, hasn't had time to go back and get a degree.

I'm sorry, i cant help him without a degree.

You can't help him, or you're simply not willing to?

Often times, getting a job simply requires getting a foot in the door and a good word of mouth from someone else. Social networking can get people a lot of places you'd never imagine.

Can't. My word of mouth gets his foot in the door, lack of a degree gets him and his foot sent out the same door i got him in. It's not my company, and i agree work experience over school experience any day of the week.

Can he actually sell? Or, has he simply been in a role where people bought from him? There's a mighty big difference. Being that a salesperson is someone who has a high "need to persuade" and is comfortable with asking for things.

90% of sales people are actually just order-takers. Which is he?

For instance, has he ever had to search for the people he's sold to? Or simply been there when people wanted to buy something?

As a sales manager, he sought out new companies to form partnerships with GFS. He goes to them and convinces them to buy. The problem is that lately he has not only been doing his job, but the store manager's job as well. He has plenty of management experience and is not only limited to sales.

I know exactly what you're saying, I'm a sales specialist at Lowe's and it's a completely different type of "sales".

in short, is he a hunter or farmer and can he help prospects over come their own objections.
