I be Jelly

Of a big red Jelly bean?

Im 100% out for racing. Have deposits on a couple of things on the car, so I don't want to change the ol' girl letting lose for one last glory pass!

:p

Lame, get it out there. We all know its worth like 8 dollars so its not that big of a loss for one glory pass :p

But if you do come down to the rental, come stop by and say hi. I plan to be disappointed by the cars trap speed as usual.

JP is not the only ones that reads it, keep posting updates for those of us that just don't post :)

Glad to hear its still looked at. Many of my posts are met with Crickets, so I am always wondering if im just that annoying poster or if its just so different compared to what everyone is used to. Thanks for the kind words :)

Cliff notes from the weekend track rental

Alternator seemed to work.

Car makes a lot of power on the new 2 step settings.

It hopped like a jackrabbit on steroids and broke something in the rear end/axles first hit. Track was cold and I put way too much power in the car. Will pull apart soon and I will get some videos up this week of the break. I guess I have plenty of winter months to get it squared away. -___-

So video time!

Testing the 2 step in the pits. Seeing 20-21lbs on the 2 step. I was pretty happy to get that much boost after struggling to make 16lbs before.

Here is the burnout just before the break occurred. You can hear the tires bite at the end decently hard but nothing too brutal.

Finally, here it is. This is the first time I am seeing this on a full screen. You can see that whatever let go (either end of burnout or at launch) didn't take long. I had zero wheel spin on the drivers side and tons of spin on the passenger side.

Miller, Makes ure you run a 1-0 wire gauge ground from the alternator to the body or good ground location. I saw a few aftermarket alternators die because of this. Even the Mechman I had on my motor failed and mechman said its because no ground.

I find it dumb but better safe than sorry.

I have several chassis grounds on the car. None quite that big but I think 2 or 3 8GA Grounds are there. I will work on slapping one on this winter. Thanks for the tip!

I am pretty excited to see my car in a magazine. Nothing I ever thought would happen, but it all sort of fell into place. I love having some good professionally edited photos of my car as well!

Well its that time of year. Car is on jack stands and getting the once over. As you saw earlier, i have the drivetrain out of the car and inspected everything from the motor back.

I havent had a reason to pull it, but the tilton seems to be happy in there. With only 10-15 passes this year, I figure its got quite a few more passes in it before i need to up the shim size. So i did a quick peek in the inspection windows and all seems to be in order.

I then ran the car for a while on jack stans and got the E85 out of the car and put some 93 in. Content is down to about 25-30 percent ethanol with maybe a gallon of fuel left in the stock tank. While running, I sat in the car on the jack stands and realized how few miles i have actually put on this car. I bough it 3 years ago (12/22/2012) with 82,500 miles on her. Flooded and destroyed, I rebuilt the car and after getting it out in August of 2013, I put about 600 miles on. Then the car was torn down, put on the 88mm and put the spool setup from Joel Grannas in the car. That means it started 2014 with roughly 83,100 miles or so. I pulled the engine in July 2014 for new rings and a full rebuild. Didnt get very far that year, but in 2015 i did a few dyno days, a few photo shoots etc and here is the current ODO reading: 83,363. I hope to do better next year.

Moving right along, I had a conversation with Alex L at BPA and finally got a fire lit under me to get some work done. Into the Diff i went... (trying not to screw it up too badly)

Luckily everything looked to be in great shape other than the "West Virginia" style ring gear. All i needed to order was a Ring/Pinion set and the pinion bearing from Elmhurst (Thanks Allen for your help!) These parts should show up in the next couple days and I can get it all back together.

And finally, (at my surprise) I found out that the photo i submitted months back is featured in the 2016 precision turbo catalog! I hope to get a few copies from local dealers to add to the treasure trove of car stuff.

I hope that 2016 will bring a better year of racing and finally get those 9 and perhaps that 8 second pass I've been chasing. Once I get in the 8s, good by V160 and hello TH400 :)

New year and time to get going back in the re-assembly direction. I was able to get the rear end up to Don at AP who rebuilt the diff with the proper shim and bearing pre-load. He recommended some new fluid, so I figured I would give it a go.

After getting the diff lubed up, I climbed back in the garage and re-assembled all the driveline parts on the old red head and got it mobile again. Now she is going off to an old favorite spot of mine. More updates to come. Here is a photo out in the snow in transit First time the car has ever seen a flake in my possession.

Wasting no time, the mani was pulled and new parts are being made. I am going to go with a BPA GEN 3 (Tri-Y) manifold and twin turbosmart HP Hypergates. Also its good to see old silver reunited with my car once again after a 2 year hiatus. They are both on much higher ground than they used to be!

Did you say hi to my car while you where there?

I did. I also took a dump in the glove box for you to enjoy later. :fuckyeah:

Looks like you are getting some good progress on it. Should be a neat car to whip around this summer when its done. I have always wanted a RHD car but have yet to make the leap.
