Twistedrx7
About 5-6 months ago we had the big wind storm and siding was getting damaged left and right, well i was one of the lucky ones. After a long battle with the insurance company we finally got them to settle on replacing the entire exterior. Great, now company is lined up to replace it. They have been in business 23 years great reviews, came out urgently (well after the store, as of last month roughly). They start the install and I notice a few small things that need corrected. Typar not straight (gap at bottom), not using button caps when nailing. those issues were fixed. Then starter strip wasnt on straight so i had them fix that. No communication as to when they were coming out. I settled all those. Now they are basically done and i notice the corner on our front bump out windows are broken. I called and explained, so the next day they put some goo on it to say it is fixed. Not acceptable to me. I look closer and see they broke other corners as well. Im not sure if these J channels can be replaced on the vinyl windows or not. Before i blow up on them do anyone know if the J channels can be replaced or would it need to be a whole new window? 2 of 4 corners broke on each. total of 3 windows. ill have pics up shortly. Cliffs: notes: windstorm, got money, hired company, broke window corners when removing old vinyl. Basic white vinyl double pane with built in J channel. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5044_zpsd8172e87.jpg Cut some white vinyl and glued it http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5043_zps23084df5.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5041_zps200d2054.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5040_zps9fb81779.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5039_zpsa2bdcac5.jpg
wnaplay1647545503
Tell them to pull the siding off and just replace the channel. It shouldn't take them no time.
BDHG940
They need to replace the damaged windows for you.
Troy2285
If the J channel is built into the window they need to replace the windows. Looks like you got a "band-aid" fix. Was the damaged frames from the storm or bad installation? I would contact your insurance company and raise hell.
Twistedrx7
Yeah from what i can tell the J channel is built in. Damage wasnt from the storm because we have pictures from before they started and it was fine. looks like windows are about 120 bucks a piece from a quick search for single hung double pane. We shall see what they say tomorrow morning. Just getting ridiculous at this point. dealt with 2 project managers and a project supervisor and a foreman that back talks. 351mach11647545510
Did you get an insurance check or is the insurance company paying them directly? If insurance is paying them directly, call and have them withhold payment and explain why. Call the company back and tell them they won't get the rest till its fixed right. Rocky31186
Sounds like a call to 6on your side. And recording the foreman when he gets Lippy. I had an issue and emailed the 6 on your side, they called me within a hour to get the details.

Fortunately we were cut a check and we able to find our own company. We have not paid anything at this point. Today is supposed to be their last day as they are putting up the gutters. Field supervisor was supposed to stop out yesterday, he apparently never did and is doing that today. Project manager is getting with his boss today. Paul - Yeah im not sure what the deal is, a lot of people now a days dont take pride in their work.
BBQdDude
Well sounds like you have the trump card...the money. I would never accept what you have shown in the pix. You even have before pix so the company can not pull "It existed" BS. Also i would probably record the foreman flipping me $hit and present that to the parent company. sounds like a win/win on your side. Twistedrx7
Project manager said that they owned up to breaking the window corners. There are two more additional windows as well that were found. They have Bungalow 19 coming out tomorrow to do one corner for me so i can see his work. Basically molds it back on with marine grade epoxy. He is charging around 225 -250 to complete. My only concerns are he will be sanding and then painting and only guaranteeing for a year. Since the window is 10 years faded it may not look the same. He works for a lot of builders as well fixing their windows. Update: Went out there today and found a shit ton of trash on the ground and a foot section of downspout laying there. Here are some pics. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5050_zps0f06bb5c.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5059_zpsdff1ec64.jpg Example of trash, it is like this all around http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5065_zpse1fd807d.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5061_zps087d21b0.jpg
Twistedrx7
And just because A sneak peak at the granite. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c168/twistedrx7/CIMG5029_zps4098b046.jpg
Twistedrx7
Update: Field Supervisor came out for inspection and was pretty upset with all the shit laying around. We ended up finding some more things once glancing over it all. Areas not caulked, typar not taped, Electrical outlet only housed in vinyl and not electrical box, gutter not sloped correctly, bump out not flashed correctly, faucets not screwed in, water meter mounted next to faucet, flashing not screwed properly, J channels not attached to anything. List goes on. Window situation: he will be going back to his boss about them, i let Bungalow 19 try and do one window and it cracked his mold(Vinyl is flexible vs hard plastic) So they will be coming back out and finishing up all of those things. right now we stand to get 5 new windows and the rest of the shit fixed. Twistedrx7
alright well they came back finally and still managed to miss stuff and do half assed work. This is absolutely getting ridiculous. They are now telling me no one will be coming out until wednesday to fix this stuff. good news, granite is installed. BBQdDude
Dude, I can caulk better lol. At this point I would call the super and have him send their best person. When said person shows up hang with him as he works and start on one side of the house and work your way around. Pointing out each thing, wait for him to fix, move on to next item/issue.
