Gun safe discussion and pics

I would like to see if some people would share opinions, knowledge, and pics of some storage. I tried searching and didnt bring much results on this topic. Right now I have a cheap stack on safe that I have easily outgrown. I have also seen Ford escorts with thicker sheet metal than this piece of shit. It was free and keeps my kids out. I am in the market for something better. I have a mix of long guns and pistols but I want something big. My latest concern is fire protection. I am really interested in storing irreplaceable items inside as well. I am seriously considering buying a big 64 gun cabinet. The problem is that for one with decent fire protection and the e-lock added, it gets pricey. I love the inside door pouches that you can buy as well. Let's see what you have and/or what you would like to have.

Yeah, if only they kept a backup stash of .22 ammo in there...

Might check on Sam's to see if they still have that big-ass safe for $600.

I will look now. Do you know what kind or model it was?

I kind of expected this thread to be more. Are people apprehensive about exposing pictures of their collection or setup?

This isn't the one I'm referring to, but worth a shot anyway: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109551&highlight=safe

I love mine. It was $499 at Sam's Club and worth every penny.

Then the next one I was going to buy was the one at Menards here.

Then the huge one I thought was to big at Dicks, but it was priced right. I think it is 48 Gun

Home that helps. I know the ones at SAMs club is gone, but menards has good ones for fair prices.

I have a small 24 gun safe. Spent about $700.

A friend from work is an avid collector. Has somewhere between 400-500 different firearms. He converted his basement to a fire/ theft proof vault. His collection is nuts.

Dude pics!!

My plan was to get on within the next 6 months. I was going to budget around 2k. Tonight I was at dunhams and looked at this.

Great price but I know it is on the cheap end of things. Right now I can't swing 2k, due to recent break ins around me I feel the urge to get something. Right now, the box I have can be broken into with a big screw driver or carried out the door. Only 1/4 of my guns will fit in this cabinet that I currently have. I know this safe from dunhams could be gotten into with a dull blade but it is double the security than what I currently have. It would atleast slow someone down.

Any opinions before I pull the trigger? It is marked down in the store for $679. Also has built in door pocket. Any better deals than this floating around?

I would suggest you also talk to your insurance company, you might need a separate policy to cover your gun collection but it's very cheap compared to safes. I'm in the same boat as you, anything is better than nothing.

Make sure it's not china made. I sold a lot of safes at my last job and when taught the diff between the two. Lets just say never buy a china cheap one. If you can wait then wait for cabelas or gun world to open and see what deals they will have. U should be able to get into a good safe for about 1000$. Rule of thumb, buy two times the safe u think u need as long as u can afford it. Elock is over rated IMO also
