zeitgeist57
I just picked up a "70's Special" set of Rocket wheels. These are the "Dukes of Hazzard"-style turbine wheels that were on the General Lee, and I plan on putting them on Cleetus. They had a cracked and falling-apart old orange paint job on them, and are really dirty. For as big and bulky as the wheels are they are amazingly light. Anyway to identify what metal they are made out of? From there, any good ways to get them shiny without damaging the metal? I'll post up pics later. Thanks! POS VETT
Use a magnet if you must. Unlikely they are steel.
Green Bastard
If they are the ones I'm thinkin of, they are prolly some sort of aluminum alloy. As for the paint, maybe someone can confirm this, but you might be able to bake the paint off.
iwashmycar
Most certainly aluminum. You can probably just strip and polish.
Cordell
They're likely either aluminum or magnesium. Strip them and look into a good polishing kit, maybe try Eastwood for products.
zeitgeist57
They look like these, but not shiny and peeling orange paint where the black accents are. 15x7 and 15x8.5. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/15x10-15x8-5-Western-Cyclone-II-Turbine-Mag-Wheels-Rims-5x4-5-Ford-Dodge-Mopar-/00/s/MTM2M1gxNjAw/z/1ToAAMXQ8OdRI8rw/$(KGrHqZ,!hoFEQ07q3KTBRI8rvqhyw~~60_12.JPG
POS VETT
Mind-boggling ... fifteen inch wheels. I think none of my vehicles can use 15" wheels, not even the truck.
