Mallard
Going through all my Hawaii pics and figured I would post a few. I am far from a pro photographer. All pics are on a T3i set to Auto with the 18-55 lens. I have done no editing to these and Photobucket chopped the resolution. 1. 10phone2
I thought the black sand beach was no longer there. Not the best thing to swallow after eating it body boarding. I bet you had a blast and I hope to get back there one day.

mrs.cos
The turtle pic is really nice! I'm jealous of your trip.
Turbotrio
Nice pics! I am going in a month for a couple weeks so any "In retrospect" type of hints / advice would be great. Jeff
Mallard
Where are you staying? We were at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island and CR member Akula has been there a lot too. I'm jealous that you are able to stay there for a couple weeks too! Are you taking your kids? The best advice I can give from our trip is to do a helicopter tour. This was totally worth it, and was a great way to see parts of the island that you would otherwise not be able to access. We did the longer (more expensive) 2 hour tour, but I would do it again in a heart beat. I would also suggest renting a car so you're lot tied to the resort and can find your own places to eat, do your own excursions, etc. A lot of this will hinge on where you are staying (what island, what resort/vacation rental/etc). Thanks for the info, Jeff The Hilton sells a discount card for 10% off food/drinks at the resort, and it's worth it if you will be there for a few days and plan to eat at the resort. We didn't get one, but we should have. Breakfast is expensive ($20-30 each), but if you are HHonors Gold or above you can get free breakfast. You can get instant Gold status by applying for one of the HHonors credit cards. The resort has some great pools that your kids should love. If you stay in the Lagoon Tower you will be closer to the kiddie pool and have a newly renovated room. The Ocean Tower also seemed to have a lot of kid's area's, but the shallow baby/kids/zero entry pool is by Lagoon Tower. Your room will have a fridge, but no microwave, so you can get some extra food/drink at the store. Being in the Lagoon Tower with a partial ocean view room we could also see the dolphin enclosure from our balcony. Our helicopter tour was run by Paradise and they fly out of Kona. They say to go early in the morning because it can fog up in the afternoon. Our ride was a bit hazey, but that was the only day we had rain. Otherwise we would have been fine. Rental car is a must, IMO. We did a circle island bus tour too, but we should have just driven ourselves. Although, my son probably fared better on the bus since he didn't have to strap in his car seat. I stayed one night in Kona at the Courtyard too. http://www.konabeachhotel.com/
