TTQ B4U
Looking to take another couple weeks on the beach in the coming weeks. We have some rental property out towards Virginia Beach but honestly, weve never stayed there. this will be our first time Lodging is covered but what kinds of fun things would you recommend for the family. Scored very well with the groups input on TN Last year. Me, wife, son age 10 and daughter age 7 Thanks!
Not Brian
I had fun when I went to virginia beach with a group of friends. It's more adult-oriented than Myrtle, I would say, with quite a few bars around the main strip. There are also a few little amusement park rides in the area with stuff going on for kids. I recommend buying a bus pass, they go up and down the strip to all the stores and stuff so you won't have to walk 4 miles or drive and hunt for parking spots. Green Bastard
I believe there is a Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, iirc that's not terribly far from Virginia beach and it might be something the kids would be interested in. Also the historical part of Williamsburg was pretty cool when I went, but I don't know that the kids would have so much fun with that. xlr8tn
we just got back from there on Tuesday. I tow the 5th wheel down and stay south of va beach near sandbridge. We actually go to the beach in Sandbridge because it's way less crowded than va beach. There's really no shops there either. Like 1 or 2 shops to buy souvenirs and just a couple places to eat. Not very touristy which is why we like it. Parking is $5 for the whole day and you can leave and come back. There's a picnic area ect ect. Since we stay in a campground we really just go back and forth between the beach a couple times then the kids ride bikes and play with other kids around the campground so we don't really go out and do stuff too much. The campground also has a beach area even though it's technically the back bay. Did the aquarium last year....meh.....kids liked it but that's about it. We went to Rigoletto's to eat lunch one day because my son saw it on diners, drive ins, and dives. Actually pretty good food and their pastry's were off the hook. He also saw one on Doumar's in Norfolk but we didn't make it there this trip....next year. Home of the first waffle cone and they still make them on the original waffle maker. Both of those episodes are on youtube. Last year we went to va beach to the pier and let the kids buy some stuff, ate lunch on the pier, and then just walked through downtown shopping. A lot of stuff down there but if I were to do it again I'd probably let the wife and kids go shopping and I would fish or crab off the pier. DaddyBuiltRacing
Went to Va Beach 2 years ago and hated it lol. After 2 days of being there I was severely bored and ready to go elsewhere. There is a nice aquarium there that I would suggest checking out, especially if it's a family vacation. I went parasailing while there and that was a good time. Other than that you can walk up and down the strip and check all the stores that sell the same stuff.
