Redbull Drift Shifters (Electronically Judged Drifting)

So i was looking around at mad mikes stuff from that lexus post, and came across this. Found it interesting that they were using sensors to judge the drifting instead of people, seems like a better way to do it, no bias opinions or anything.

Makes sense given newer cars are practically riddled with sensors for speed, rev, slip angle, wheel speed, wheel angle, etc, but takes some of the human element and panache out of it. I'm all for fairness, though.

I can see how it would be more "fair" but drifting seems like such a subjective/artsy competition to me.

Gotta say, I was never that into drifting, but that was very enjoyable to watch.

 

Makes perfect sense, to treat Drift Shifters like a huge pinball machine with the precision scoring that a well-engineered electronics/sensor array can provide.

 

Definitely a fan...minus the skateboarder flat-brim hats. F**king punk drivers.
