All profits support the mission of Canine Companions for Independence® - the nation’s first and largest non-profit provider of assistance dogs for children, adults and veterans with physical disabilities. Established in 1975, Canine Companions has placed over 4,200 assistance dogs with people who have disabilities – free of charge to the recipients. These dogs are working everyday throughout the country to increase independence, motivation and socialization for people with disabilities. Fully trained assistance dogs from Canine Companions are able to assist with retrieving dropped items, opening and closing doors, pulling manual wheelchairs and turning on and off light switches. So, grab your friends and family (both two and four-legged) and join us Saturday, October 12 for a great time! Additionally, if you are having too much fun to go home, stick around for the Canine Companions DogFest immediately following the run.
