BigOxley
Them there is fightin' words. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/nissan-vp-trash-talks-subaru-brz-has-midlife-crisis-of-1453017133 This is what happens when bean counters talk cars. Andy's biography: Andy Palmer is Executive Vice President and Executive Committee member at Nissan Motor Company Limited, with specific responsibilities for Nissan's Corporate Planning, Product Planning and Programme Management, Global Marketing Communications, Market Intelligence, Global IS/IT and Global Infiniti Business Unit. Mr. Palmer joined Nissan in 1991 as business administration manager at the Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) and ultimately became Deputy Managing Director of NTCE in 2001 after managing many technical functions within the company. In September 2002, he transferred to Japan as Program Director for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). In 2003, Palmer was appointed President of Nissan Motor Light Trucks Company Limited, while retaining his duties as Program Director. Nissan Motor Light Trucks, located in Omiya, Japan, is responsible for vehicle development of Nissan's global light duty trucks. He continues to hold this position today. In April 2004, Palmer established the LCV business unit within Nissan and in April 2005, he was promoted to Corporate Vice President in charge of the unit. The LCV business was identified as one of four breakthroughs under Nissan's three-year Value-Up business plan. Under that plan, Nissan has achieved an increase in global LCV sales above 40% (achieving in excess of 500,000 units) and more than doubled its consolidated operating profit margin to above 8% by fiscal year 2007. 2010 will see a volume around 854,000 units as growth continues. In February 2009, Palmer was appointed Senior Vice President and a Member of Nissan’s Executive Committee. In October 2010, his scope of responsibility was extended to include Global Marketing, Brand and Communications, with a mandate to improve the Nissan Brand Value through the mid-term. In April 2011, he was named Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Nissan, Mr. Palmer worked at Rover Group and Automotive Products Limited. Draco-REX
*shrug* Nissan is coming out with a car to directly compete with it, so it certainly can't be that dismissable, now can it? The proof will be in the pudding.
Mallard
When was the last time Nissan had anything remotely as fun to drive and affordable as the FRS? The 350/370Z is OK, but it's over priced and my 60 year old mother-in-law has one. (actually, this is her second) Mid-life crisis cars are usually more expensive sports cars or a giant truck that's supposed to make to make your penis bigger. The FRS is cheap and small, for young people with small penis's.
Dr. Apex
Well they are bringing back Datsun in some countries right?? Maybe something will come of that and they make another small Z car again. The next gen Z I hear is supposed to be quite a bit smaller. Littleguy
Hilarious. "Do we have any competitors in the rear-drive sports car market" I would ask if the 370Z is even a worthy competitor.
El Karacho1647545492
Don't forget that Nissan is a joint venture with the cheese eating surrender monkeys at Renault.
